We got the following message, anyone know what cache this could be talking about?

    Hello,

I’m  with the Barron County Sheriff’s Department. While on patrol in the county I located an old ammo box used for geocaching. It had been opened and thrown onto a logging road but the guestbook and a few items were still inside. I brought it back to the office and it will be here if someone would like to pick it up. It came from the area of 26th Ave and 24th St near Brill. Our non emergency number is715-537-3106. Thanks

    Deputy Ricky Schill

I did email those COs with no reply. In the area they listed picking up the cache, I can find no cache. Maybe this is an archived cache? IMPO, there is an ammo can at the Sheriff’s office if someone wants to go get it.

Check the logbook for a GC number, and then the names in the log to see if they match to any cache, past or present.

My guess is that the sheriff’s department doesn’t want to worry about it further than they already have.  I guess if anyone wants to go pick it up, there’s an ammo can there.

There was no GC# on the log book and I searched all caches pages within 5 miles of the location this was found. Most were micros, only I think 1 was a Regular maybe two and that is when I messaged the COs from the WGA account page.. None were missing which is why I am guessing it is an archived cached that someone found. Bummer…an unloved ammo can.

Last month this happened for another cache down by Madison and I scoured the logs (j&k&kids was FTF) but we couldn’t figure out where it really was. Sometimes I think the people we are talking with get locations messed up. This one was the Ag Center that was concerned people may wander across the road and get into the research crops (?) tainting their research. I assured them that we could get it archived if they wished but I also felt pretty positive no one would walk the 100 or so feet over to a field when the hint said “STOP” and it was at a sign post.

Sometimes it is just fun to play Batman and figure these things out.

I wrote to Tejaka on Nov 5:
    Hello,

I am Chris Walker (WalkingAdventure) and President of the WGA. The Barron County sheriff contacted us with the information they had an ammo box that was discovered while out on patrol.

Here is a copy of the information they passed us:

Checking the map I see you have caches nearby so I thought I would contact you. I am also contacting RiceLakeGeocachers to see if they know who this could belong to.
