I know I could have put this under the congrats topic, but I think it would be better appreciated here.
Just recovered my 50th benchmark yesterday. Granted, not all of them were NGS listed. I had one WISDOT disk that just had elevation stamped on it, one WISDOT Construction Monument disk and one Reset (L 94.) I’ve also taken photos of three different RoW Markers: two pipe caps, one orange and one yellow; and one of the newer yellow metal signs. I know where two different types of posts are too, I just need to get back to them 🙂
I’ve been having a lot of fun along the way. I’m even keeping a spread sheet of my finds and plotting them on Google Maps. Here’s a break down of my finds so far:
Pipe Caps:
1908 – 1
Disks:
1930 – 5
1934 – 1
1954 – 1
1964 – 1
1994 – 5
1999 – 11
2000 – 14
2001 – 1
UNK – 3 – (one of them is before 1943)
*12 GPS Marks
*2 GPS Azimuth Marks
*2 Resets
*1 Water Power
Structures:
1954 – 7
*3 churches
*3 water towers
*1 radio tower
Right of Way Markers
Pipe Caps – 2 different
Signs – 1
My future plans are to find the GEOCAC mark, the CoP mark and a stone mark. I know where the first two are, but the third one will be difficult. I know where one is, but I have no idea what I’m looking for (see other topic.)
Just got the Center of Population Benchmark Disk today. Had to avoid an army of ants, but I still made the recovery 🙂
CONGRATS!!!! It is addicting isn’t it?
