Does anyone have an opinion on buying a Refurbished GPSr?
I’ve spotted several Garmin Colorado 300’s for around $230.
Thats significantly less than a brand new unit sells for.
refurbs are as good as new, they are ones returned to the store for whatever reason, sent back to Garmin, they go thru them to make sure nothing wrong and then package them back up. only reason refurb is one them is that they have been touched by a consumer somewhere in its past
We’ve owned 3 Garmins. One was new and the other 2 were refurbished. The 2 refurbished ones have outlasted the one that was new. The price can be 30-40% less and they come with the same warranty as a new one.
One of the refurbished ones is almost 3 years old and the other is 2 years old. We go caching 2-3 times a week year round and if you look at our numbers you will see that they get a workout.
My Refurb’d Garmin Colorado 300 will be here tomorrow. I’m pretty excited, hoping I don’t get one that someone played with for a month and brought back to the store.
But if it works, and at least looks good, I’ll be happy.
I’m looking forward to “paperless caching”, especially being able to pick up a few caches on those days when I don’t plan on geocaching, like picking up those few caches along the way to a destination. I think the Colorado should be able to do that for me.
