For me, geocaching has been about the people and places. I started in February 2004 after watching a friend, having fun experiencing it. The people have been the many now geocaching friends I have met along the way. The places have been all the interesting locations and situations geocaching has either brought or allowed me to experience. Speaking of both, I met The Tapps/ Brian at the 1st Waukesha Winter JanBoree event I hosted in 2005. We were married in August 2008, hosting our own Geocaching Wedding event.

I am a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Greenfield Dept of Parks & Recreation where I develop, budget, plan, train staff, order supplies, implement and track expenses the Aquatics, Playground, Fitness Arts, Dance and Safety programs. In my division, I hire approximately 95 people each year, from teens to retirees. We fund-raised and renovated the former Library into a Community Center that now houses many of our programs. It has also hosted several Geocaching Events – Geo 201 with Dr. DoLittle and Northern Lightz and the Gifted Snowbuster with Gr8 Eyes.

I have been serving WGA on the Board of Directors the past 4 years in the role of Treasurer. In 2010, we expanded the yearly WGA shirt from just an event shirt at the camp out to a brand logo t-shirt, then sweatshirt, then hoodie, now zipper hoodie option sold at every WGA event possible and the West Bend cache Bash. If you own a WGA logo shirt, I ordered it! With the help of Averith, we now have an upgraded display system for this next year. With the help of Scrappy Scout, we have been getting the details to look at further adding hats, patches and lanyards.

I would like to continue serving on the WGA Board of Directors because I feel there is a need for some continuity in the members. As the Treasurer, I have a good working knowledge of handling the financial side of things for the organization.

I am an American Red Cross certified Instructor Trainer in CPR/AED/First Aid and Babysitters Training. I am also a certified Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, CPR Pro Instructor. As well as Lifeguard.

In the Girl Scout world, I was the first girl in Milwaukee to receive the Silver and Gold Awards .. the Gold being like the Boy Scout Eagle Award. As an adult volunteer, I received the Thanks Badge and Thanks Badge 2 Awards which are the highest given. I also was a Master certified Trainer. For the past 2 summers, I have gone back to Girl Scout camp, spending 5-8 days of my vacation time during the busy summer season, training girls to become certified Lifeguards. It has been a great experience mentoring both the girls and the staff. I have been asked to return in 2013, to not only to work with a group of girls but also recertify the staff at the start of the season.

I am “mom” to two rescued Labrador Retrievers – Maggie and Sandy – who are “well loved” family members.
