For me, geocaching has been about the people and places. I started in February 2004 after watching a friend, having fun experiencing it. The people have been the many now geocaching friends I have met along the way. The places have been all the interesting locations and situations geocaching has either brought or allowed me to experience.
I have been serving on the WGA BOD for the past 6 years in the role of Treasurer. During my tenure, we have expanded the yearly WGA shirt that was just available at the campout to a WGA brand logo line of apparel. It started with t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, long sleeve shirts then zipper hoodies. In 2014, hats and lanyards were added. I thought long and hard about continuing to serve on the WGA BOD and decided I still have knowledge and skills to share. I also have a good working knowledge of the finances of the organization over the years.
For over 22 years, I have been a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Greenfield Dept of Parks & Recreation. I am responsible for the Aquatics, Playgrounds, Fitness, Enrichment, Arts, Dance and Safety programs. I develop, budget, schedule, hire and train staff, order supplies, implement and track expenses. I also am responsible for our recreation software that handles our registration, POS and facility reservations. I hold several American Red Cross, American Heart Association, NETA, AEA certifications.
For the past 2 years, I have also been a volunteer with Tailwaggers 911 Dog Rescue serving as the Transport Team Coordinator. It is a fancy title that means every 6 or so weeks, I and a partner, drive a rescue transport. We drive a truck from Grafton WI to Louisville KY loaded with dog crates, meet up with a team from Georgia, walk and water, and load the dogs into our crates and bring them back to Wisconsin overnight.
I am “mom” to two rescued Labrador Retrievers – Maggie and Sandy – who are my well loved furkids.
Over the years, I have hosted several geocaching events and geo 101 class. I have hosted pre-conference seminars about geocaching at our state park & recreation association as well as for park supervisors across the state.
