I’m in the process of stocking an ammo can full of swag for a new cache I’m getting ready to put out. After scrounging for things to throw in there, I came up with an idea.
You know those little zip-lock bags people like to put their log books in on a lot of micro caches? You know how they almost get torn and eventually leak? I was thinking, a lot more people would replace those little damaged bags if they had a bag with them.
So here’s what I did. I grabbed a handful of those little bags (I buy them at Michael’s Craft store, they’re cheap), put them inside another bag with a note inside.
“Repair A Micro”
Take of of these bags and use it
to replace a damaged bag from
inside a micro cache in your area”They’re meant for people to just take the bags (one, or as many as they need). They’re not a trade item. I’m going to add micro zip-locks to more of my caches with the same note. With any luck, this might cache on.. I mean catch on. I’m thinking this could lead to dryer, happier caching for all of us.

Super idea, and a great service. Hope it does catch on, and we hit one of your caches! 😀
06/02/2010 at 6:47 pm #1930020I get my bags from Hobby Lobby. I carry ten bags at all times with logs that say replacement log already written as well as NR93 ( what I sign my logs as) That way when I come accross a cache that needs it I can just drop and go. I also carry a a bag full of bags to replace if only bags need it.
Great Idea. I should start leaving them as swag. The bags were on sale at Hobby Lobby for 1$ for a hundred of them so I spent 10 bucks. I have lots of bags 🙂

06/03/2010 at 3:25 am #1930022We found a cache in one of the MN State Forest units placed by King Boreas. I can’t remember exactly what he called it, but the trade goods were not for trade, but to take. Little pre-packed baggies for carrying along for cacher repair. One could take as many as desired.
Yes. I know. It was a way to help himself with cache maintenance of his many, many hides. But he did give us the means to do that in that cache. It’s a great idea. We ran out of all our repair kits and should make some more to keep in our pockets.
