Request Volunteers for spring, 2012 ColdCache Events
Date / Time to be determined (sometime in early April)
Need 1-2 people to set up a shuttle and hike approximately 3.5 miles of the Ice Age Trail by West Bend. We will be visiting 3 ColdCache sites in preparation of the Tuesday, May 8, 2012 event – leading 18 4th grade students in search of ColdCache sites.
Will discuss details (date, time and location) with the volunteers.April 25, 2012 at 12:30 pm
DeForest Park & Recreation – Conservancy Commons Shelter
Volunteers not necessary, but are welcome to review the site and plan the Saturday, May 19, 2012 event promoted as a family hike and ColdCache simulation along a conservancy loop trail.Saturday / Sunday, May 5 / 6, 2012; 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Erehwon Outdoor Adventure Expo – Bayshore Town Center, Glendale
This Expo is promoted as a free family event to promote local outdoor organizations and clubs. Will have a lot of shoppers stopping by to see what’s going on. The Ice Age Trail alliance is one of several organizations at the event.
Need 1-2 volunteers for each shift to staff the Ice Age Trail Alliance booth and provide guidance to visitors as they use GPS units to locate five (5) model glacial features placed at the shopping mall.
The event is advertised for 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, and 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday. Will need assistance to set up and take down the booth and ColdCache simulation before and after the event on each day. Suggest two shifts per day.Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 8:00 am to noon
West Bend – St. John’s Lutheran School
Need 1-2 people to organize/lead hike and assist 4th grade students as they answer questions regarding the ColdCache sites they will find along the trail in West Bend.
Thursday / Friday, May 17 / 18, 2012; 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
Wisconsin Outdoor Education Expo – Dodge County Fairgrounds near Beaver Dam
The Expo is promoted as a free, fun, educational experience promoting outdoor activities. Busloads of 5th grade students attend this event. The Ice Age Trail Alliance is one of numerous organizations at the event.
Need 2-3 volunteers for each shift to staff the Ice Age Trail Alliance booth and provide guidance to the students as they use GPS units to locate five (5) model glacial features placed on the fairgrounds.
The event is advertised for 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Will need assistance to set up and take down the booth and ColdCache simulation before and after the event on each day. Suggest two shifts per day; 7:30 am to 11:30 am and 11:30 am to 3:30 pm.Saturday, May 19, 2012; 9:00 am to 12:30 pm
