Candidates,
I see a lot of questions and answers about planning and hosting events. While this is part of what the WGA Board of Directors does, what are some other things you think you will be responsible for if elected?
financials, disputes, helping to moderate the forums, potential talks with various gov’t offices (this has been handled quite well in the past, but it might show up again)…..other things that people don’t want to do….is that what you’re looking for?
Hopefully, getting the word out and promoting the sport to others as a great exercise, weight loss program and just plain fun.
I think I will be signing on to the WGA website a LOT more as I tend to have NOT been very active on the site in the past.
I’m certain other ideas will come up by the board and I look forward to seeing what they are.
I still would like to be responsible that I attend every WGA event to be a good advocate and show my support for WGA/The Geocaching Community.
seeing a lot of good answers.
a few things that come to mind:
advocacy – local/state government entities
acquisition – requesting/securing donations
education – community programs/radio spots
distribution – merchandise/equipment
financial – book keeping/tax status
Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
proactively working with gov’t – DOT, DNR, law enforcement to build relationships
financial health of org – promoting new revenue (possibly partnering with geocaching retailers), recordkeeping
community relations – local CITO, Geo 101 including promoting these events to the general public and not just cachers
