Is there any road construction we should be aware of on the way to Hartman Creek? I know that Hwy 12 is closed between Fort Atkinson and Cambridge. How about anywhere after Madison? I just like to be prepared…
Thanks!
Bec05/09/2004 at 3:06 pm #1754535Somewhat related to your question, I’m pleased to announce the roadwork on 110/10 from Oshkosh to Waupaca is complete. This area has been closed for the past few years for construction. Hwy 110 from Hwy 41 is now 4 lane highway. It’s a lot faster drive for those coming up from Milwaukee Area. In December this area was still closed. When hiding caches 2 weeks ago, I was amazed to see it open. Finally !!!!
05/09/2004 at 3:31 pm #1754536No construction in Waupaca County. I’ve come in from Green Bay and Iola and all of those highways are in good shape.
54 is clear all the way from Green Bay.
As GrouseTails stated above, 110/10 has been done for awhile now and is a vast improvement over its prior form.
My understanding is that Hwy 21 across the state is finally completed.
If you’re coming from the southwest corner of the state, Hwy 173 through the Necedah Wildlife Refuge is a beautiful drive and hooks up with Hwy 54 in Rapids.
Hwy 22 is in good shape as well. We’ve criss-crossed that section of the state a few times.
Check this site for specific information about your particular route:
http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/road/workzones.htm#currentThe turn off of Hwy 54 west of Waupaca is clearly marked and easy to find.
My nickname in the past has been “Rand McNally”. Please feel free to drop me a line if you need directions from your particular part of the world.
Good times!!!
05/10/2004 at 2:36 am #1754537I will be using my expensive toy to help me on my way up there (Magellan RoadMate 700). I have to exclude parts of the route that have road construction. I checked out the DOT road construction site, and it didn’t appear that any of the roads I will use are closed, but wanted to check to be sure, as I don’t really know the roads in that area.

05/13/2004 at 2:16 am #1754540The larger concern in Waupaca County lately has been deer hits. They are at an all-time high. Please be careful Friday night, especially if you are driving in at dusk…
