Scheduled once again for Father’s Day weekend, the format will be pretty much the same as R.I.G. I & II.
However, if anyone has suggestions or ideas to make things better or improved, (or even constructive criticism) now’s the time to make them. I’ll probably post it live on Geocaching.com’s website in the last half of March.
Here’s the ideas I’ve been kicking around for changes/improvements:
1. several caches along the way (on the mainland) that will be specifically placed for R.I.G. III.
2. reservation of larger group site (closer to dock)
3. nighttime group hike to (allegedly) haunted cemetery
4. less rain
questions/comments?
AFAIK, the canoe will not be attending…
I would enjoy doing the evening hike to the haunted cemetery as well as the caches placed along the way up to Rock Island might be fun.
Russ and I have Site #1 reserved, so let us know of the group events so that we may join everyone.
I can’t wait to join everyone back up at the Island. See you then.

I have since learned that Friday June 15 is the new moon, and Saturday June 16 is the peak of the June Lyrids Meteor Shower.
With the island’s distance from ANY major light pollution, a clear sky will make this a pretty interesting night for stargazers.
I am real interested in attending this one. I have never done this before.
Count me in

I’m going to try to make this work for me this year.
Edit: GAH! My reunion is that weekend! What to do???
Rock Island is just around the corner and I can’t wait. If you like to camp and the idea of spending a weekend on an island is alluring to you, I highly recommend attending this event.
Without a geocaching event, Rock Island is a marvelous historical site (lighthouse included). Throw in a few caches, some excellent hiking, and of course beer and cheese around the fire at night- it really doesn’t get any better than this!
Experience Rock Island- you won’t regret it!
