Just wondering how up-to-date is the membership list?
I ask this because I noticed that there sure are a lot of people signed up but how many are really active in the WGA functions, message board, ect.. . Do you or have you complete an annual review of the membership list to make sure it accurate?
Do we have 990 active members?

I just sorted the membership by expiration date, and would estimate that 1/2 are expired. Some expired as far back as 2004, some as recently as yesterday. There are too many to try to count manually
The board has been discussing some ideas with the webmasters to make this list more accurate. Hopefully these can be incorported when the website is overhauled.

Is there a way to tell when your membership expires? I want to make sure Im renewed, and current.

PeteI can tell you by looking at the records (12/05/06), but for the membership, you can renew anytime. You don’t need to wait until your expiration date to renew.
When in doubt, renew again

Were do you look to see when it expires?
As I read this post, Your mini-profile appears at the left of your post. It shows that you registered for the forums 7/2005. That would indicate that you may have become a WGA member on or after that date (Forum registration and membership are seperate.) This would mean that your membership will be expiring after June of this year. You may renew whenever you like, but I like to renew on Jan 1, because it is easy for me to remember.

You can go to the membership page (click here) and follow the instructions above the form to renew. If anyone else really needs to know when their membership expires, email me instead of posting here, jeremy at wi-geocaching.com.
Note that the whole renewal issue will go out the window in the future. Just like the FBI/Big Brother, we will keep track of your every move, including when you log into the site. So basically, you’ll just have to visit at least once per year to keep your membership in good standing (unless the Board decides to change the definition of membership to require something else)… there will be no separate renewal process.
