We introduced 20 rookie middle school kids to geocaching today. We put together and hid 5 temporary caches (plastic peanut jars)in a large city park, rounded up 5 GPS’s, and took them over. They had small trinkets ahead of time, and did lots of trading. We are already being asked to take them out to some ‘real’ caches next time, so I guess the morning was a success.

Lots of fun – we love introducing kids to this great sport we all enjoy.

Were these Waupaca kids or the Lakewood variety? Way to go in introducing the youth to our sport!

Thanks for the kind words… looking for compliments was not the intent of the posting, but we sure appreciate them.

I teach in a middle school in the Fox Valley. We did this as a 1/2 day ‘mini-course’ celebrating the end of 1st quarter. The other teacher who helped was on her initial caching event, although her son and daughters have cached several times with their aunt. (One of their family Christmas presents is going to be a GPS, so it sounds like another member of our ‘family’ is joining up).

We’ve introduced a lot of kids to this great sport, and have enjoyed this almost as much as doing the caching ourselves!
