There really doesn’t seem to be any “gray” areas regarding roundabouts. Everyone we ask either loves them (like Mate) or hates them (like Captain).

Now that there is some funny stuff.

They might keep traffic moving but when is enough, enough? I’m pretty sure someone thinks that all intersections should be round…

I see someone stop in the middle of one at least once a week to let me into the circle.

Isn’t this an oxymoron? Can an intersection be round?

    Wikipedia defines “Intersection” as follows

In the field of road transport, an intersection is a road junction where two or more roads either meet or cross at grade (they are at the same level). Such a road junction may also be called a crossroads.

but of course the page does include a paragragh on “traffic circles” which a subtype of intersection.

The guys in the YouTube video need to take a trip on Highway 12 just south of Lake Delton between the interstate and Ho-Chunk Casino: three roundabouts so far, and an extra one off to the side if you take the wrong exit out of one.

But supposedly roundabouts are more efficient and safer. And I just saw on the news tonight that eliminating all left turns would save gas and also be safer. Didn’t see any roundabouts, but it sounds like the MIchigan left turn was being promoted.

Very funny! They keep adding roundabouts in the Milwaukee area and people get so confused! Thanks for the laugh.

Wow give me a roundabout any day compared to what I just read about Michigan left turns. The only problem I have with roundabouts is the people that don’t know how to use them. The other day as I was trying to enter one of the roundabouts in Oshkosh, this little old lady stopped in the middle of it and waited for me to enter. I quickly waved her on before she caused an accident.

I should take pictures .. the spanking new roundabout that I use twice daily is slowing losing all the street signs.

My best guess is the snowplows can not round the corners and well, there goes another sign post.

I hope you don’t have any caches hidden in those sign posts 😆

LOL! Didn’t realize it while watching it, but I know the guy who posted that video. I play softball with him. Couldn’t stop laughing while watching it. Was like listening to my father-in-law and his friends talking about “da round-a bout.”

Roundabouts are ok if they are on a two lane road, anything more than that, they absolutely suck.
