I have taken a little break from geocaching, but now am trying to get back into it. Back into “caching shape” before the summer Cache Ba$h. It has ben a while since I have been on the forums. It is amazing how the same conversations come up over and over again.

My reason for chiming into this conversation is that I also feel very strongly on this topic. I LOVE PUZZLE CACHES. I LOVE SOLVING PUZZLE CACHES. It may be ego, but I like being able to sign my name to something that only a handful or less have done. That is part of what keeps me going in geocaching.

Signing my name to a puzzle log, after doing no work for it, seems cheap to me. I could go on and on, and yes, you can play the game as you want. Communication with the cache owner is the most important. A simple question like, “I am leading a puzzle tour, can I include your puzzle in the list?” If the answer comes back, no, then…(as previously stated) everyone can play the game as they wish. Respect That!

Personally I’ve put 515 puzzles on my ignore list so they don’t keep showing up on searches. I’m not a puzzle person, I don’t like the idea of sitting at a computer working on solves for geocache puzzles. Not my idea of a good time. While others may find this fun, I don’t. I used to go and log every puzzle I came across when I didn’t do the “puzzle” myself. Now I could care less about logging a little smiley on them.

The type of puzzle I enjoy is going somewhere, learning about something, getting the numbers and off to the final.

I geocache for the fun of it. I like caching with other people. BSing in the car all day, having a damn good time, eating a good meal with friends and family, ect.

So I for one am gonna go along on this little tour and enjoy myself. And have some good pizza at the event following. My numbers for the day will probably be 1 for the event and that is fine by me. I’m gonna have fun geocaching.

I’m not a fan of puzzle caches myself. Of my 756 finds, just 31 were puzzle caches and the majority of them were field solves, meaning I gather information at markers like in a cemetery then off to the final.

Unless it is an easy solve, I don’t relish the idea of sitting at a computer for hours trying to solve just one puzzle. Not my thing.

As for pocket querys, I basically filter out puzzles if I’m in a puzzle dense area like Appleton. I do the same on GSAK when loading the GPS.

I’m not fond of crowds either. Unless the event is small, I probably won’t be attending events this year as well.

I have just over 200 on my ignore list. I don’t mind sitting at a computer working on them, but that is only because I have time at work somedays. Other then that I don’t touch em. I have a 5 min rule. If It doesn’t jump out at me in 5 mins, it most likely wont at all. I agree with Ryan, I cache for the friendships and the funs times on the trips we take, to see a new area of the state, or for boredom. I have solved around 50-60 puzzles, have about 50 field solves, and have a few “freebies” from trips where someone else had the solve. I will do this bus tour, and I will be happy to get some of those “pesky” ?? marks off my map. I have worked with a lot of the puzzle people in this town and a few of them I consider good geo palls. I will work with them individually if I do something they don’t like, but not because of rules but becosue of freindship.

And of course Pizza King is awesome!

Well Judgement day is upon us! Y’all ready for the Puzzle Tour? It’s kinda funny how they both end up on the same day.

      Tick-Tock……

      Think it goes like this:

We have until 8pm sharp, so cache while you can, good people!

The not-so-good people, will still have another 5 months to cache, but they will all be 6/6 Puxxle DNFs

I got that song by REM stuck in my head. “It’s the end of the world as we know it”

That song isn’t in any of GR’s music puzzles is it?

I wanna know whay there has been no tour this away. 😕 Maybe my puzzle are not worthy? 😥 Maybe they are afraid of being plinked? 😡 Or maybe they are afraid that the bus can’t make it down the firelanes!! 😈 😉 😆 😮 😀

Chris, don’t take offense if the tours have not visited your area, busses are not allowed north of Highway 8
