Regarding my “Port Puzzle” geocache (GCK6YC)… This is too funny to not share … yet I need to limit my choice words to not create a “spoiler” for those that have not found it yet:
This past weekend “LegoLover” and “GR8Eyes” set out to find the cache. One of the steps in the cache requires that you find a 4-word sign indicating “who donated the splash guard”. Unknown to me the splash guard was taken down by the city to “winterize” the fish cleaning station; thus the sign is not there right now. However, there is another 4-word “who donated the cleaning station” sign at the same coordinates. They made the only logical conversion and used that sign … however, this had a nasty effect on the de-coding of clues that use bits and pieces of words from the sign … worse yet, the sign they used still spelled real decoded words. The net result … upon arrival at the final coordinates for the hidden container, they were told by their clues to:
CLUB around under the seat for POT!
Luckily the ladies are incredibly smart and also happened to end up at the right coordinates … so they found the cache and did not find any illegal substances to smash with the handle of their knife!
(I’ve made the need adjustments to the cache text, to avoid the seasonal-ness of this misguided puzzler.)
