Thought it would be nice to summarize all of the great comments buried on the cache page!

I apologize in advance if I missed anyone’s comments. Our administrators need to see how thankful everyone is!

I’m one of a few that gets to see all the behind the scenes hard work that goes on to make an event like this happen. A special Thanks goes to:

-GrouseTales for his leadership and involvement in every aspect of the campout right down to creating the logbooks.
-JThorson for all the behind the scenes work he’s done as secretary and creating our Chart
-SBukosky as treasurer for handling the campout registration/monies
-WiSearchers for taking over as co-chair hider and compiling all the hides
-Hotdogs off Trail for his idea of the Breakfast and managing it all
-Kbraband for T-shirt design and ordering
-CacheCows for their creative Friday night puzzle hunt
-Others for adding their ideas, assisting in webpage design, manning the Registration table/upload station, assisting at the breakfast, volunteer hiders, donating etc..

A real TEAM effort by all.

Because of my slacking off this event (grins) I had none of the stress that the others had covered up so well.. JThorson attempted to make me the Friday night T-shirt deliverer but I kept chatting too much to each shirt owner that I never really worked up a sweat or got many delivered (giggles) And I think I’ve proved once again what a NightOWL I am .. sorry to all that were kept awake (blush). Had a great time and enjoyed meeting so many!!

Brown Eyes, Bo and I attended our first organized caching event, ever.
We met some wonderful people, had a great time and caught up on my geo-caching “fix” for a while. Now, just to figure out how to log all those temporary finds I made.
I had a good time teaming up with Miata on Saturday afternoon as Brown Eyes opted for a nap instead.
Thanks to all the organizers for a good time.

This was the second event I attended, but my first WGA campout. I thought the number of people that went Caching Through the Snow was amazing, but the size of the group at the campout was mind boggling. Thanks to the size of the park I didn’t realize how many people were there caching until the group photo (and even that wasn’t everyone).
The CacheCows Crossword Challenge was excellent (even though no one ever found 44 Down).
The 22 daytime caches I found were challenging (next time I’ll remember to get to the mothership cache with more than an hour before the photo, I tried to find Gilligan, but ended leaving all the castaways stranded on the island).
The night caches were amazing, this was the only time that I have worn my headlamp and not felt like a total geek.

My first WGA Geo-Campout. In a word….AWESOME! Had fun caching with Uncle_Fun, Parkview, WhitnallGPS, Corbor, James Bond JR, and WI Lake Family (came in with only a few finds!).
Nice crossword games to play on Friday night.

I was surprised how few teams we ran into while on the caching trail. However the few teams we did run into, we saw for most of the day, Teams Douglas and Olahut. Had some nice chats with them. Even was able to hook up with Geotripper (Mike) to rescue all the Castaways. All the caches were great.

The Saturday night caches were truely unique. I loved seeing all the neon moving around the woods.

Wonderful to meet new people. Nice chats with Ecorangers, Team Douglas, Big Call, House of Brew, and many, many others.

Cost of a WGA Geo-Campout shirt $10.00, cost of pancake breakfast $4.00, participating in a geocaching….PRICELESS.

A big thanks to the countless hours of the volunteers.

    Lost Boyscout

ps. Is it too early to register for next year?

Thanks to all the organizers, a very well planned out event! Creative caches were to be found all over the place. Thanks for all your hard work.

We found all the caches except for 3 of the crossword caches(1 Down, 38 Across and 44 Down) where we posted no-finds for those 3.

Goodbye Hartman Creek, We hope to see you again sometime.

What an awesome weekend!!! It was great to put faces with names we’ve seen. Everyone was so friendly. We’d never done any night caches before and it was great. We did lots of bushwacking because we couldn’t find the trails sometimes. We found 8 caches before we had to leave the park for the evening. Thanks to everyone who had anything to do with putting this event together. Great Job!!! We found 29 caches and were tired and totally exhausted when we got home. What a great feeling. Tom and Judy

Had an amazing time and know that I cannot articulate how thankful I am to all that helped to make this such a great success! It was great to put soooooo many more names to faces, as well as get to enjoy some other cachers’ company …oh, and finding creative caches was fun. The pancake breakfast was a blast!
Took: away an amazing set of memories
Left: feeling exhausted, grateful, and satisfied!

Found The WGA Geo-Campout! What a wonderful time I had. I got to meet a lot of geocachers — what a great bunch of people! Having not camped since I was in my early 20s, and never by myself, I was a little nervous that I would not be able to set up my tent, or light my grill, or would run screaming into the night by something or other that scared me, I was very happy that everything went well! Slept and little rough (and COLD) on Friday night and hoofed it to the showers early Saturday AM. Saturday night I was so beat that I slept very well, and then I DROVE to the showers Sunday AM.
Breakfast Sunday AM was yummy and worth every penny — as was the camraderie around the campfire.

I would have liked to have gotten to more caches (and I wish I had figured out that secret one!) but I think I did pretty good for still being a novice. The muscles are a little sore (that’s a GOOD thing) and I’m a little tired after the drive home (and a nap!) but I am so happy!

Thanks for a great job everyone!!

This was my first large geocaching gathering, other than the breakfasts, and what more can I say than THANKS!!! Thanks to the organizers for planning and hiding the caches and for keeping things moving along during the weekend. You deserve a lot of credit. Also thanks to those who traded travel bugs with me, as I was able to retrieve my 300th TB at my 300th find, which was the Ding cache. It was great to see familiar faces as well as some new ones. I was able to match more names with faces this weekend. Thanks to those in my group for an awesome weekend: Uncle Fun, Lost Boyscout, Parkview, Corbor, and James Bond Jr. I think it will be awhile before I find 39 caches in one day again. Another weekend of fun and memories.

What a great event! Really enjoyed talking to so many new cachers! We loved the caches and the company we had all day. The kids got tired enough to decide not to stay the second night, but we did stay for the night caches and we had lots of fun. We have never done this many caches in a day and we can’t believe we are still walking and talking today… Thank you for this great event and the creativity of the caches!

What a great weekend. Our first geo-campout. We had a great time except for having to run to the hospital after our son got bit by some bug and had a bad allergic reaction. We managed to find 17 of the caches plus the “secret” cache. Came back for the nightime ones and found all but two before we had to leave. Thanks to all the organizers for making it a fun weekend. We look forward to coming back next year.

WGA Campout – My family and I had a great time with our first time camping! We only camped one night, and boy, it was a cold one. There was a very thick layer of ice on the car when we got up in the morning, proof that it was below 32 degrees overnight. Had a great time hunting down some the temp caches, each worthy of being a permanent cache! Thanks to all who helped organize the event.

Due to last-minute unfortunate circumstances we were unable camp for the weekend. However, we did make it there for some Saturday afteroon caching, the group photo, the meeting, and a short time around the campfire. It was good to see so many new faces this year. Thanks to all who volunteered and who took part!

    What a great event!
This is the first “Big” WGA Event I have attended and was impressed all day and night by the effort that went into the event and by the quality of the caches.
It is fantastic when this many people can all cache together and it still seems like your not in a large group.
I thought the Saturday Night caches were fun for everyone and I would have never thought I would be bushwhacking through the woods at night armed only with a flashlight.
I had many favorites, but rather then just point out the efforts of a few, I will say thanks and my applause for all those who put in such an effort on caches, logistics and helping put on this event – very VERY Impressive.
Thanks Everyone and thanks to those who all made the day very enjoyable.

Well, this was it!! We cached hard for 2-3 weeks leading up to the campout. We wanted to arrive at camp with 199 finds… The campout made our total 200!!
What a blast!! We loved every second!! Got to meet some new people and expanded upon friendships made earlier.. We just can’t say enough about what a terrific group of people we have involved in Wisconsin… We’re still a bit speachless!!

    What more can be said?

Friends, Caching, Camping, Fun… That’s all well EVER need!!!

    Thanks to all!!

Got in late but still managed to get some great caching in. The best part was just meeting all the great people though. Got to cache with The Lil Otter, BnB and Wood Nickel on Saturday night and then went out to grab a few more Sunday after the delicious pancake breakfast with What’s Next, Tenner, Towlebooth and Jillibean.
It was a truly wonderful experience. I can’t give enough thanks to Grouse Tales and all the rest of the folks who did the planning and setting up. Great Job!!!

What a great weekend. We had a great time at our first campout. Our son (2yr old) loved camping and getting his hand stamped at each cache. Thanks to everyone for making this event happen.

This was a great event. We only had a half day on Saturday and we still had a blast!! This is truly what Geo-caching is about. Saw some familiar faces and seen new ones as well. This was a wonderull park, the turtles sunning themselves was neat to see. Many thanks to all that orginized this it was well put together. We hopefully see everyone at the Picnic.

What a great time! I just want to express my appreciation to all the volunteers who made this event such a success. I was fortunate enough to spend the day caching with WZBT & Nathloh, and also to witness Alan’s BIG Milestone (1000).
It was a fantastic day all around, and the night caches were the icing on the cake. Thanks again to everyone who made this possible.

What a blast! We have been looking forward to this since the Geo-Picnic, and it finally came and went. We were able to see geo-friends again whom we hadn’t seen in a long while while caching throughout the park.

We cached with our orignal gang from last year–Tenner and daughter (now Step-on-Me), Jillibean, and Towlebooth. In addition, we also cached part with Mrs.GBPaddlers, BigCal, QwertyTwo, and gbteos. Our goal was to find ALL the caches places. We accomplished this by Sunday morning.

Thanks to the organizers and all who hid caches in order to make this a truly remarkable event. Your creativity and effort are invaluable. We got everything we could out of this event!

    WGA 2004 Campout.
Wow! So much to say… First off – thanks to administration for putting on such a wonderful campout. Amy, Hayley and I (Jeff) all had a GREAT time. The highlight of the weekend was really just meeting everyone! GrouseTales – you are god! Lil Otter – you are my hero! WI Searchers – FUN TIMES! Grampa – you are my canoeing mentor – a TRUE paddler. …and everyone else we met. Caching is such an isolated hobby at times. It’s nice to know that “numbers” really aren’t that important. Socializing, laughing and flipping pancakes were really the highlights of the weekend. We found 14 caches all weekend, but we had a GREAT time.

Thanks again – looking forward to next year!

    Jeff

This was a great event. Enjoyed caching with my son and his wife “OuttaHand”. Everything on Saturday showed the efforts of the committee and they deserve our THANKS.I don’t know how they ordered the weather for the day but they did a great job.
I found 8 caches while there and consider that a GOOD day for me. Thank you for a wonderful day

WGA Campout – Although we did not stay to camp, Lost Latitude had an EXCELLENT time at this event, our first involving the WGA! We met many new cachers, were surprised when we saw people we knew ( Hey, we didn’t know you guys did this, too!!), and have developed some new friendships. We also have a new appreciation of the depths some cachers reach to make for a challenging cache, like PINING by MS WISearcher, and SMKBIT by Flushingrouse. We also loved the noteworthy and creative MATRIX, by Grouse Tails. All this mixed in with a very well organized event left my son and I excited for the coming summer. Great Job to the WGA!!!

A very big thank you, to the volunteers for all the time and effort that was involved for putting on a wonderful Geocaching event. I had a great time doing all the caches, a few caches may have had different ground zero than my GPS, but had a good time looking. 999

Thanks to all the organizers, hiders, and volunteers! We had a great time! Started rough with Arlene having to hide all the Crossword caches in the pouring rain, but the weather was super for the rest of the weekend. Alan had a bum leg so only got to hunt 4 of the day and 6 of the night caches. Between the three of us, we found MANY more ticks than caches; final count – Eryn 10 ticks, Arlene 6 ticks, Alan 3 ticks. This log is for 38-Across crossword, which Eryn found as she did not hide any of them.

We are very pleased that we could be a part of this great event. It is so wonderful to rub elbows with the movers & shakers in our community along with the newbies that are our next generation of icons. It was especially gratifying to see family involvement. Thank you WGA members and friends for the fantastic memories created here.

Came to Hartman Creek early on Friday. The rain kept us inside most of the day—saved our energy for the Saturday caches.

We were happy to join the large list of attendees at the Spring Campout! I think there were many who were amused by our tent-pitching exhibition on Friday afternoon, too!
After our “fun” of erecting our tent, we were pretty drained. So we only had the energy and will to find one of CacheCows’ very nice Crossword Cache. We found #20 across readily. But when we put in the other coords, and found them to be around 1/4 mile away, we were done.

Saturdays caches, which we attacked with my dad (Tuck-A-Way) were all very nicely done and very well-hidden. We managed to find 10 of them before we collapsed and had to call it a day.

We wish to thank the organizers of this terrific event! This was an excellent choice of a park. It was kind of nice having them spread out a bit. There was less grouping at the cache sites.

    Now it’s off to BED!!!

Thanks for posting all the comments Jeff. As one of the organizers, our reward for all the planning is reading the positive responses when we get home.

Boy, for me this whole weekend was a blurr. So many things to do, so many new people to meet, So many shiny objects to distract me .

I love assisting with the planning. Part of the fun of taking a trip is spending weeks getting all the toys ready. My only regret is that I didn’t have much time to talk to people one on one. There were so many people that I recognized from emails and Approver related things. I really wanted to have a chance to sit down an chat with more people. Oh well, next time.
