Waa Hoo! Picked up the last four FTF’s with none other than Jolly Ol’ FTF King Zuma! this morning. He was kind enough to let me be his stand-in FTF Queen for an hour! The snow was gorgeous and fluffy after yesterday’s blizzard. Anyone looking for some winter friendly caches or a numbers run, this trail is the spot to go! Having a car at each end sure made the caching more efficient. If you come over this way to do the 40+ caches on the Woodville Trail and need a car jockeyed, it’s only a coupla miles from our place – jus’ give a holler!
Merry Christmas, Mr. Zuma! Merry Christmas!
12/29/2007 at 2:13 am #1882271WE really like getting out in the snow… but today were frustrated with so many caches that were not “winter friendly” in the least. Like looking for a needle in a haystack when the snow banks are over 6 feet high and no clue… and no idea how accurate the coords are. At least we did find 6.
TE12/29/2007 at 3:16 am #1882272I don’t think I’ll ever finish shoveling and actually get a chance to do some winter caching!
Somebody, please save me!

12/29/2007 at 3:23 am #1882273I managed to find a handful this morning before the snow but even when there was only a couple of inches I still DNF’d a couple cuz they were not winter friendly. I think I got 8-9 inches of new snow today…oh well no caching again….

12/30/2007 at 5:16 am #1882276For all your snow woes, I wrote this little ditty to put a smile on your face.
(to the merry tune of Jingle Bells, starting with the verse)Caching in the snow
We’re bundled up real tight
Before we leave the house, are the coordinates punched in right? The roads are still a mess
Cars are sliding to and fro
But there’s only one good question that I’d really like to know.. Ohhhh!Geocoins, Travel bugs, what will we find today?
Action figures, zipper pulls, stuff we’ll pick up on the way.. Hey!
Gags and swag, tons of fun, Geocaching is a blast!
Caching in the snow is the way to go
FTF?? Heck no, we’ll be the LAST!12/30/2007 at 11:23 pm #1882277Add no bugs, bears or bramble bushes in there. No poison ivy, poison oak, ticks, flies or skeeters, burning sun, cold rain or leaves to block the signal.

12/30/2007 at 11:46 pm #1882278No Just frost bite,
micro’s frozen in blocks of ice
avoiding snowmobilers
and all those cross-country skiers…
Is there ever a muggle-free time of year?
Care to share a frozen beer?
Don’t head out with out 4 by 4
If the snow comes down hard, take it slower…
Dont forget your cell phone
You might just need it to get home!We are all crazy and hunt the elusive cache
no matter the conditions! So brush aside that fresh layer of snow
cover your tracks before you go!
If you want to have even more fun
walk around in large circles before you are done.Have fun out there, the time couldn’t be better
Just add an extra layer, wool socks, and a sweater!Happy Winter Caching everyone.
12/31/2007 at 1:29 am #1882279Winter caching is like caching in the rain, only cooler….
It involves strategy, planning, and a little timely on-line research. If you can’t do that, then whine on the Forums!!!!
A. What just got planted?? – hmm- winter friendly.
B. When did it get planted?? – check those dates – big clue!
C. Is a bar close by? – more than likely very winter frindly!
D. Has anyone found the cache lately – like during the last snowfall or two/three/four…
E. Where has everyone else been caching and finding stuff? Duh!! That’s where you want to go!!!!
F. Are you able to read “Geo-Trails In The Snow??” aka “Geo-Caching for Dummies in the Winter???!!!”It’s just a different mind set – just set it for success! Get that smiley at all costs!! Why would you chase an ammo box in the woods that hasn’t been found for 6 months vs. that lovely, winter-friendly suspended cammo’ed cache that you can hike to, reach out and touch, sign, find bling, and then go find another one!
Where is the problem??????????
12/31/2007 at 3:59 am #1882280My husband and I actually did some caching on Saturday after getting yet another 7 inches of snow. It was one I wanted to hit just to pick up the trackable.. that came from Slovakia!
Ok.. we are new to caching and I thought this was mega cool. But it was super worth it to geocache in the snow!
I think it just adds to the adventure when you gotta dig through a couple inches of snow to find the cache when you just KNOW its gotta be here somewhere! -
