It looks as of now that Crandon is reporting about 8″ of snow cover.

By the way Atkins use to be an old logging town. Close friends Mom lived there as a kid. Some of the foundations to buildings are still there.
Water was not an issue when we went. The swampy part was not bad at all. If my memory is working the thicket of trees was trickiest getting through.
Could meet you all somewhere after the trek if you want… or you could all come to our house in ER for cocoa and coffee… let us know. Will also depend on my Dad’s health issues.

O.K. do we have a head count on who is all going? I have been following this thread from the start. And I see OPS, Seth and my self so far and may be TBC. Any one else? Is Dec. 27 still the day? And what time and where are we meeting? Just curious. Looking forward to it. Now all we need is some decent weather.
I will have a 3 1/2 hour drive. Hope the roads are in good winter driving condition. OBTW Thanks to OPS for the invite to join them on the hike to this cache.I would like to be counted in for the 27th. There is a possibility of picking up another around Green Bay. Coming from Milwaukee, I’m looking at about a four hour drive. I will definitely be watching the weather on this one. I have no cell phone, so if somebody would want to pm me with a number in case of a last minute cancellation, it would be appreciated.
Right now I have room for one person to ride along if they want too, but they would be third on the list.

I been watching thinking I might go, its a 4 hour drive and I will need to get snowshoes, don’t think ski’s will work in this area. Very tentative.
Count me in.. TBC just let me know about this and I haven’t been on here in a while either. Definitely up for a long snowshoe hike… I’ll even volunteer to go first :).

OPS will provide hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and cookies.
10:30 Start TimeIf anyone wants a copy of my track log from our failed attempt (the out tracks will be useful for our in), or would like a cell number for contact- email or pm me.
OPS WILL be attempting this cache at that time. The only thing that would call it off would be extreme cold or bad roads. We will make a confirmation post some time around 5:30 AM if there’s any question regarding weather.
We only need a rough count of folks planning on attending. Actually it really doesn’t matter because we can bring lots of extra cookies! But, here’s a tentative list.

I’ve been watching this thread with hopes I could somehow make it work out but the start time just doesn’t work for me as other obligations interfere. Nobody wants to make this a night hike????

My find rate per hour drops down significantly and my dnf rate increases when it gets dark so I’d have to bow out too… too much of a numbers guy :>
We’re starting in at 10:30AM- but nobody said we’d be out before dark. 😯
