I like the idea of caching around Mosquito Hill without the mosquitoes! The LCG event starts at 1:00. I’d like to get to the event location a few hours early to do some snowshoeing and caching. Would anyone like to come along? I’ll have my kids with me so please keep in mind that we’ll be going at a child’s pace. Although, if speedier cachers want to band together too, that’s fine. I’d like to find the EarthCache for sure and any other traditionals along the way. Is there any interest in joining up? I’ll set a time soon after I do a little more research.

We did all of whatever was there last winter. We weren’t in any hurry, spent time in the nature center and all told, probably spent 2-2.5 hours out there. It’s a neat location, you’ll enjoy it!

Unsure of the time I’ll get there but I’m in for the ‘shoeing.

    I’ll know more soon

Although I have found most of the caches there, I would go along for the snowshoeing and maybe the one smiley I need. However, I would have to join you either before or after the Earthcache…I struggle with getting to the top of the hill in good conditions; I wouldn’t do well in snowshoes and breathing in the cold air. I think the kids’ pace would be way beyond what I could keep up with, not the other way around 😆

Amita, I think there is a rumor of new caches to be published in time for the event so you would have something new to search out.

If so, great! If not, snowshoeing alone is fun too. Just not up the hill for me. 😳

There are 3 new caches in the area, and perhaps a few more after today. Not sure if they are on the property, or nearby, but people will be able to scratch the caching itch!

What time were you thinking of getting to the nature center? I am not sure if my surgically repaired ankle is up for snowshoeing or not. I am planning on getting to the area early and doing some of the other local stuff.

Dave I’ll firm up things with the boss tonight and get back to you.

Off hand I’m thinking 1 pm event so 1 -1/2 caching before so 11ish is sounding good maybe 10:30.

    What does everyone else think?

We are the middle group using the Great Room on Saturday. Availability of the room is at 12:30. The center is open all day for shoein’.

Have a good time going up the hill! 🙂

There will be 4 new caches at the Nature Center and 3 in the City of New London.

We talked to Mary at the Nature Center today and she said they will have people and snowshoes ready for you on Saturday morning.

The trails we were on are all nicely groomed and clearly marked so it should be fun.
