I had a half dozen or so ALRs, and I archived them. They were mostly along the Great River Road and highlighted some of the things that you spot along the Great River Road, for example, Eagle spotting, train spotting, crane spotting, paddlewheeler spotting. Each required a photo of the object, which was generally not to difficult.

I archived them since they were mystery caches with the ALR. I generally replaced them with a traditional cache without the ALR. That way, it does not screw up people’s stats, which some folks are concerned about.

I wish Groundspeak had not made the change, but it is there game, so I figure it is best to play within the parameters they set. ALRs added a fun added dimension to the game, that I liked. It is too bad that a few people put out such crazy ALRs that it ruined it for everyone. Interestingly, I notice a lot of lame ALRs are still getting approved in Minnesota. For example, here is a lame ALR recently approved in the land of mud ducks: GC1TNNZ

looks like that one slipped through the “challenge loophole” of the guidelines…

Maybe the reviewer was simply baffled by the grammatical errors, strange syntax, and usage errors (i.e., “pedantic”) and hit the publish button in his confusion…

Actually, reading that cache page again, I don’t see why it wouldn’t qualify under the new guidelines. The central challenge is geocaching related–find a bunch of caches.

The logging requirements to verify that the challenge has been completed are very specific in this cache, but not disallowed within this classification.

So are we! That one’s a toughie, but we’re still looking.

For the 900 series? I got one! 😀 Quite a few in the cemetery where I got mine.

Didn’t see a log by you on WSQ 970, sweech. Same Jesus WSQ?

The cache referred to by Zuma seems to be a little much! 🙄

I haven’t found all the caches yet, but have all but about 5 photos needed (stockpiling for easy uploading later) 😀

Ok, we rethought our position on this one. Yes, it’s a challenge, but there are too many other neat caches out there to spend all that much time on something like this. Maybe if we find ourselves with too much time on our hands…until then, no thanks!
