At what point will you add a cache to your ignore list?
Do you look for it 2,3,4,5 times before you finally place it on your Ignore List?
Do you place caches on your Ignore List because you feel the owner typically places poor caches?
Do you ignore caches that you feel are placed in areas that should be off limits?I ask this because after 4 years now I add my ninth cache to my Ignore List. To me this is the symbolic black mark. Of course I’m only one who knows of the mark.
Are nine caches on my Ignore List a lot after 4 years or is that very minimal? How many do you have and what prompts you to send a cache to realm of I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN?
[/i]11/11/2009 at 9:53 pm #1916732Although we’ve yet to place one on the ignore list, there is one we’re seriously considering because it is in a place that is rather dangerous and conspicuous. Ones that appear to be poorly-maintained over a period of time would likely be candidates as well. 9 doesn’t seem like that many-we each approach caching in our own way.
11/11/2009 at 10:24 pm #1916733i just looked at my own list and i only have two. they are the wherigo caches in Madison. nothing against them, but i just don’t have the equipment to do them, and they are the two closest unfound caches to me. maybe someday i’ll go with someone who has the right GPSr, but for now, i just don’t care about them.
11/11/2009 at 10:38 pm #1916734I don’t use that functionality of the website.
11/11/2009 at 10:54 pm #1916735I don’t have any on my ignore list. Even when I threaten to put a cache or two or ten there, I don’t.
11/12/2009 at 12:02 am #1916736GC is down at the moment but I likely have about a dozen or so…strangely many are on tanks or cannons in very public areas…I normally only ignore very public caches….I have DNFd some caches 4 or 5 times and they still have not been ignored…
11/12/2009 at 12:36 am #1916737I have a few local caches that are accessible only to boats. I don’t have a boat or access to one. I put these few caches on my ignore list so they don’t show up in my queries or on my map. I know they are there and when I do get a boat I will go find them. As far as ignoring caches that I can’t find, I don’t ignore them. I keep on trying to find them.
11/12/2009 at 12:47 am #1916738If a cache name or the cache owner has a weird character in its name, it screws up my GSAK database for some reason when I try to export the file to my GPS, so that cache (or caches by that owner) goes on my iggy list.
Otherwise, I don’t ignore any as I still like to read logs.
11/12/2009 at 12:47 am #1916739PC Frog since we are in the same area, I’m curious as to which ones you have and if they match some of mine.
Having said that, I have a few challenges on my ignore, not because I’m not going to do them, just that I don’t like them popping up all the time on the pq’s and map when I do a search. I do have a couple that just frustrated us on the list and decided it best to remove them from always popping up in the pq’s.11/12/2009 at 12:56 am #1916740Ah GC is back up…I have 54 ignores…they are all caches in very public places…and 15 of those on the list are now archived…I’m guessing there is a good reason why so many of them have been archived…..
11/12/2009 at 1:36 am #1916741I find it very liberating.
11/12/2009 at 1:53 am #1916742I have 291 on my ignore list, nearly all puzzles. About have been archived. Interestingly, I have since done about 20 of the puzzles on the ignore list, so I dont totally ignore them, I just ignore them from PQs.

11/12/2009 at 1:56 am #1916743I have 2 on my list of death one is a deloram challange and the other is find so many of certain caches and we will take you to dinner there is nothing wrong with either but I am not keeping track of the caches that I have or have not done on the list.
11/12/2009 at 2:02 am #1916744Hey Shrek, If we see you do all those caches, we’ll let you know and take you out!
😉We also don’t use the ignore function and never have. There is one cache on our nearby we’ll likely never get, and that’s okay. We’ve realized one can never have a completely empty map or list for very long, and that’s a good thing. Means there’s still a few out there for us to find maybe someday.
I wouldn’t worry about how many are on my ignore list if I had one, though. We all do what we have to do to enjoy the game!
11/12/2009 at 3:09 am #1916745A sampling of what is on my ignore list:
GC1764C (Unfindable)
Nearly all (90 -95%) of the caches on my ignore list are MN puzzles, like these:
GC1A4FT
GC19H8Y
GC18BF1
GC15ZBA
GC11PYA
GC1WKKC
GC1JXCN
That is just a sampling of the puzzles near me, and why I likely have a larger ignore list than most.
There are also two caches on the list that I have tried, DNF’d and did not want to go back, and they are quite possibly on your list as well PCFrog since both of them are down by La Crosse:
GC1D2KH
GC18GTE
The other thing that I do is put caches on both my ignore list and my watch list if they are a puzzle that I dont want to show up on PQs but want to keep thinking about doing in the future.
