In my neverending quest to fix broken caches, I have run into a cache near my home called “Sticks and Stones”, by wiracer24, that I need your help on. This cache has now experienced 7 months of no finds (including one no-find entered as a “found it” by mistake) with no response by the owner. I have also emailed the owner directly, again with no response. My guess is that this one is abandoned.
In any case, this cache is a 3 stage multi. The first stage is fine (although some still have problems with it). The second stage is allegedly hidden/written in a large rock pile near a bicycle trail bridge. Having spent a couple hours climbing around on the rocks, I am reasonably sure that this one is washed away or muggled. If anyone can give me a better description of where this is supposed to be and what it is, I can check again to see if I just missed it somehow.
Otherwise, if someone has the coordinates to the final, I can make a new WP2 and rehide it (assuming the final is still there). While I am not a big fan of “rockpile” hides, the older logs indicated that people enjoyed hunting this cache, so I would like to keep it viable if at all possible.
Thanks in advance,
Team Deejay
01/18/2006 at 9:20 pm #1741154WIRacer24 is related to MRAndersen and Sprint24 cachers also. I believe WIRacer24 travels alot and may not have regular e-mail access. Maybe an e-mail to one of the other teams I mentioned may yield the help you need.
01/19/2006 at 12:36 am #1741155I think they go south for the winter. Try the people that Folk Trakers mentioned and see if you learn anything before the weekend. If not, let me know and I will go out there and see if I can re-find it.
01/19/2006 at 2:15 am #1741156Waypoint two is next to the bridge…start walking down the side of the bridge, when the cement ends, start looking at the corner. Look for one of the “smaller” stones/rocks around. When you are hiking/biking down the trail and you see the bridge, take the left side of the bridge down to where I described above. The cache is hidden to high up to wash away. At least that’s how I remember it….but that was alot of caches ago. Good luck. Tami
01/19/2006 at 5:08 am #1741157Thanks for the heads up. I have been out of geocaching for awile. I’ll let paul know or check on it myself soon. I don’t know at this point why he isn’t getting his e-mail but I will check on it.

01/19/2006 at 6:37 am #1741158Thanks for the feedback. By washed away, I meant washed off, as in no longer visible/legible. I will try again on Sunday.
01/19/2006 at 4:23 pm #1741159We keep hard copy notes with waypoint coords so if M R Anderson, cathunter, or any previous finders is going to check up and wants them please e-mail us via geocaching.com
01/29/2006 at 5:20 am #1741160We finally got through this one, and as was indicated in the logs, WP2 is getting pretty difficult to read. To read it, I actually hauled it up to the bridge (better light) and then we tried to guess what the blur was supposed to say. Since it is not my cache, I am not going to repaint it, but I will do a “temporary” fix (involving a label and a little packing tape) to make the WP legible for future finders. Thanks to Senior Searchers and Ecorangers for their help on this one. You guys are great!
