What about the old “lick your lips and press them against a metallic object outside when it’s below zero” test? Haven’t tried that one myself for about 45 years… any takers? π―

i thought it was a good idea to try that today… i put some hot water in a old coffee can, and threw it up… but it didn’t do anything.. when it hit the ground it was still water.. so much for trying to impress the kids with that one.. they just watched me from the window waiting for something cool to happen. lol
Try doing it with “really” hot water and use just a cup. Also throw it up high enough to separate the water.

I believe the water has to be (near) boiling and the air at least -10. Or just check out our youtube video and stay warm.

01/17/2009 at 12:17 am #1900392I remember back in the 90’s when we hit about -25. I did the boiling water thing in a good sized kettle and it worked with no problem. I only heard of boiling water, not cold water. So, I tried it with cold water, and the same thing happened.

Um…back in the days when I used to eat snow, I thought the frost build-up in the freezer compartment of our old fridge looked tasty, so I tried licking it. The compartment was metal and my sister just laughed at me until my mom poured warm water on my tounge to unstick it… π³

There was no dare. He just decided to do it. It even happened in the same town in Indiana where Ralphy was from.
