After you’ve picked up trash in many locations this Saturday, why not travel to central Wisconsin on Sunday to have a whack at some scrub oak on the prairie at Roche-A-Cri State Park? Our “Little CITO on the Prairie” event is quite “little” right now, and there are lots of plants that need cutting. If you have a chain saw and are adept at using it, you can even bring that along to help the thicker specimens go down more easily. (More power!)
Did we mention cookies? 😉 And over twenty caches in the park itself?

04/25/2015 at 9:30 am #2039219The weather is looking great for tomorrow’s CITO event at RAC SP… sunshine and warmer temperatures. One new simple puzzle cache was submitted a couple of days ago, but it hasn’t been published yet. Look for it to come out later today.
There are no prizes, no power trails, no special recognitions… just the chance to make a difference at a small spot on this big planet. See you in Sandland Sunday afternoon!
04/25/2015 at 9:47 am #2039220Have a great time everyone. Here in Indiana the rain is coming down and it is dreary.
Thanks to all who come and Give Back to the areas that hold our playtoys.

04/26/2015 at 7:01 am #2039240I wish that I could go but I am volunteering to run a geocaching booth at the Cornell Outdoor Ed-venture today. I looked at travel times and it looks like I’d get to RAC after it was over. 🙁 But I hope all goes well, I’d love to visit that park again!

04/26/2015 at 8:16 am #2039242Announcement on the event page:
“It’s a beautiful day in Sandland! The sun is shining, the cookies are made, and we are looking forward to a great work event on the prairie. We will be setting up event headquarters near the big pine tree (the “secret fort”), so look to sign in and set up your chairs there. That is also where the cookies and water will be.
One more thing: We have permission to use chain saws here to cut the larger brush, so if you have one and are proficient using it, go ahead and bring one. Otherwise, loppers and handsaws or whatever you bring will be the tools of the day.
WEAR SUNBLOCK!”
04/26/2015 at 8:24 am #2039244We’re looking forward to cookies and a hearty afternoon of clearing. Hope to see others there, too.
04/26/2015 at 9:52 am #2039248Made an announcement on the cache page about the Coloma-area construction. This will apply for the next few weeks, not just for those coming to today’s CITO in Sandland:
“We forgot one major thing… There is construction on the Highway 21 bridge over I-39 at Coloma, and official detours are posted. However, unless you have a 14-foot high rig, you can take Old 21 through Coloma and save some major detour miles.
From the east: Follow signs in Coloma for “westside businesses”. Turn left; go through town; pass the park on the left; go under the interstate; take a marked right on Old 21. When that curves and hits regular 21, just continue west on Highway 21.
From the west: Follow signs to Coloma “eastside businesses”. Turn right on Old 21; turn left on County CH; go under the interstate; pass the park on the right; go through town; turn right and continue east on Highway 21.
From the north or south on I-39: All ramps are open, but you may not be able to access Highway 21 in the way that you usually do. Just assess where you are and where you want to be, then follow the directions for “getting to the other side” above.
This bridge construction is expected to be completed by Memorial Day, so there are still a few more weeks to think about how to get around in the Coloma area.”
