Howdy… just wanted some input on a couple things:
1. Are you More likely or Less likey to attend an event (set for Late March/ Early April) On a Sunday starting about 10 and thru the day?
2. Does starting an event, on a Saturday, at say 11ish AM, make you more likely or less likey to attend?
Just having some time-slot isuues and wanted know know if stuff like this was a big deal or not at all!!!
Thanks!! y’all!!
01/27/2006 at 3:34 pm #1760966Sunday has traditionally been avoided because of church service conflicts. My faith allows me greater freedom than that of others, so Sunday is good by me but may not be for others. having an event earlier in the morning allows more caching time later in the day and has always been my preference. Others prefer to sleep late. In any case, if you are putting an event together, don’t worry about others preferences. It is your show. Do it your way.
01/27/2006 at 5:18 pm #1760967Well from my end I usually end up working 6 days a week. This is why I don’t get to many events. I would love Sunday events.

I am like you Beast… my faith calls me to commune with nature and share the blessings of friendships. How better than to have an event!!?? I would even have a special “Non-denominational” blessing before hand. For those faithful service goers… It would be a great time to see what the 645 am mass was all about
This is why I tossed out these questions, so I can get a idea if it is an issue or not. Keep the input coming!!
Thanks!!

1. A Sunday event would work good for me as there are less conflicts regarding my son’s sports on a Sunday. Furthermore, a problem with starting an event later on a Sunday is that depending on distance travel people may not be able to stay as long if the next day is a work day.
2. Depending on where the event is held on a Saturday, distance, etc. I would still attend an 11 am event on a Saturday. Starting an event later ona Saturday would give a possible opportunity for night caching (so you should plan some).

Well that’s a different story!!! It HAS to be on a Sunday LOL Just was not sure of how common they were
01/27/2006 at 9:52 pm #1760972I like Saturday better, mainly because of not having to get up as early for school/work the next day; plus church is an issue if a Sunday event starts in the morning. Sunday afternoon is ok, but then that leaves even less time for being perky come Monday. Thanks for asking, but do go with what your most comfortable with, I’m sure people will come either way.
01/27/2006 at 10:50 pm #1760973I’m impartial to which day an event is held, but not being a morning person lessens the likelyhood I would appear anywhere before 9am.
01/28/2006 at 12:58 am #1760974Our faith does not require Sunday services either, so we are flexible either way.
I think you’ll get more people on a Saturday, but many will come on a Sunday too.

* * * * * * * * * *01/28/2006 at 3:46 am #1760975i would love to have saturday events starting later in the morning. i work till 11 at nite and having to be somewhere at the buttcrack of dawn (anything before 10am) is tough. i make the effort for geocaching, but i am not a pleasant traveling companion.
we have family obligations that prevent going to sunday events, until around 6pm.
but plan what works for you. if you offer it, they will come…..02/06/2006 at 1:49 am #1760976Day of the week doesn’t matter for “Old” and myself, however, being in the income tax business, the first half of April is a definite no-no. Anything after April 18th this year would be peachy keen with us!

02/08/2006 at 4:37 am #1760978I just held an event on a Sunday afternoon/evening (An XL Geocaching Event). Not too bad of a showing for that time/day of the week (27 people) and it was very manageable.
02/08/2006 at 6:40 pm #1760979I think no matter which day you plan, you won’t be able to please everyone. Since we’re still pretty new to geocaching, I’ve only attended 2 events. One happened to be on Saturday and one on Sunday. I feel either day can be a winner, depending on what else you have going on.
