Quick question for everyone, we have our regular swag bag of goodies for the big and little kids. However, since our family likes to cook, we thought that personalizing some recipe cards with our favorites would be a neat personal swag item. Just wanted to check if anyone would be interested in finding something like this or if its a waste of time and money. Thanks for the input.
05/16/2010 at 7:21 pm #1929223I personally have no interest but I have done “theme” caches before like a keychain trader up north of Rhinelander. Might be something to consider, gives the option of trading or not.
You could make it your “signature” item, put one in the bigger caches you find, I’m also not big on that idea as many get dropped in caches and just end up being moldy paper that needs cito’d. But if you were to laminate it they may last longer.
05/16/2010 at 10:49 pm #1929224I have thought of doing a recipe exchange cache also. But have never gotten around to it. YOu could leave them as your “calling card” as some other cachers do. You could put your name on the front and the recipe on the back. I agree that you should laminate them otherwise you will just have a big stinky ness after awhile.
05/17/2010 at 11:34 am #1929225There is a cache near the eau Pleine Flowage in Marathon County whose signature item is a potato salad recipe. Looking at the logs, it seem to be a popular swag item at that cache.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
05/17/2010 at 2:05 pm #1929226I know that a while ago, One Paddle Short’s daughter had a TB with a cookie recipe on it. I believe it stated that finders could give out their recipes out to share after logging the TB. Maybe OPS will share the entire story and that might be another route for you to look in to.
05/17/2010 at 2:25 pm #1929227How about having a logging requirement of posting a favorite recipe in your log, logs not including a recipe will not be allowed to be counted and will be deleted. This way you don’t have to worry about wet moldy paper and you can always go back to the cache page to check the recipes to use them 🙂 (or print them off for use at home)…. just a thought 🙂

You can’t require this type of thing. It is known as an ALR which are no longer allowed or they have to be optional
05/17/2010 at 3:18 pm #1929229Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was thinking of doing it like a sig item, but I kind of like the recipe exchange cache idea as well. I guess I’ll just see how it develops as we go. 🙂
