Swamphog gets Lucky on St. Pattys day and finds his 1000th cache at exactly 3:17 on 3/17. Only 2yrs 10 days from your first find
Way to go Dad!!
Just a comparison of what it takes to find 1000 caches where you live (Marshfield area) vs me (Appleton) to find 1K close to home, I have 73 finds within 1 mile, but you only have 1 found within a mile of your home. 55% of my finds are 1-10 miles, but 55% of yours are between 25-50 miles from your home!! I still have 200+ unfound caches within 10 miles, your closest cache unfound is 25+ miles away. Thats a lot of adventuring and a big difference in miles traveled.
In the week prior to this find he made 4 separate trips just to get to unfound caches. He needed like 15 caches and drove to Mosinee, WI Rapids, Black River Falls, and Medford!! But with a push to the end he got to 999 and was ready to go Hog Wild for 1K.
Today was such a nice day I wish I could have been there with you.
Now go wash the car so Ma doesn’t get mad you got mud on it. 😆

03/19/2012 at 3:19 am #1958271Congrats on 1000 finds! I was happy to be a part of at least one of those, and a FTF at that!
03/19/2012 at 3:28 am #1958272Congratulations on your 1K milestone, Ron. I know what MuggleB is talking about. Last week I found the last two caches in Wood County that I hadn’t already found. It’s fun visiting a cache-rich environment like Appleton, but you don’t find too many ammo cans there 😆

03/20/2012 at 5:57 pm #1958276Congratulations Swamphog! I know first hand that you are willing to go the extra mile for a cache. (Cat FTF) and to help a cacher in need (Hibiscus 2000)
I will have to make a point to go Hog Wild next time I get over to that neighborhood.

03/20/2012 at 6:39 pm #1958277Congratulations….we do appreciate the challenge of getting to a number like that in a lightly saturated area….we had to go down near Decorah Iowa when we were at that point, too.
Glad it all worked out so well, down to that date and hour!
03/21/2012 at 12:46 am #1958278Hi Again,
I appreciate all of the replies. I’m out now enjoying the un-seasonally warm weather. Our friends, the ticks are back too. Otherwise, I’m just beholding the beauty of the Earth. The best to you all. ~Ron03/22/2012 at 6:02 pm #1958279Congratulations!
Keep on having fun and hope to see you on the trails sometime.
