We received a log on our snowshoe chums TB today. It was found in CZ which is untrue since we retired it over a year and a half ago and it is sitting on a shelf in our house. We deleted the log and wrote the guy. Not sure if he will be able to read it since it is in English. Anyway thought I would give others a heads up to watch their TB logs as we were wondering if anyone else was getting bogus TB “discoveries”?

Possible he/she had a digit in the tracking number wrong somehow? Hard to believe someone who had never found the TB before would have gotten the number.
We have had this happen a few times on one of our geocoins. About 5 people in Germany logged it. (it is still sitting on my desk). I emailed but never got a reply.
My bet would be on a typo or mis-read of the ID on the bug/coin…
I guess that it may be a good idea to have a photo of your coin or TB so if you see that “hey, that doesn’t look like the one I found” the little light 💡 may come on and you can recheck your numbers.

There are a few photos on the page… Could have been a typo but you would think they would have noticed.

I had a cacher very recently put a TB in our cache we have had archived for nearly 3 years…still trying to figure that one out especially when it was noted he forgot to drop it……after all these years???? 🙄
