But that’s me…I thought the point of an event is to bring cachers together and visit with one another. In this case, breakfast is an attribute of the event. Participation of actually eating breakfast should be optional and not a requirement to attend the event. But that’s me…

Actually on the cache page it now states that breakfast must be paid for before signing of the log.
Oh and furthermore: some people eat breakfast very early, some may not at all, or some may get sick when eating out at restaurants due to the process in which the food is cooked.
I believe Russell_53040 would like to attend the event to meet, greet, and swap stories with others but he doesn’t want to eat. He will not be partaking in the food and would like to save his money and use toward other things as cache containers, gas, etc.
He’s just trying to get a clear answer and is posting it for all those people that are apprehensive in going because they too do not want to eat.
01/24/2006 at 12:00 am #1738647The event owner could do whatever they want… but is paying for breakfast prior to the signing of the cache log a way to make sure that enough money is collected up front so that those left at the end of the event are not stuck with paying for others. I heard stories of a previous event where this happened. The last Team Badger Breakfast location was a pay on your way in set-up that also prevented this unfortunate thing from happening. I wouldn’t think that anyone would MAKE someone eat a breakfast that could even possibly be against their dietery requirements. Or maybe should be against more of ours…can you say more bacon and eggs
Lightningbugs Mum can you clarify for everyone?
01/24/2006 at 12:11 am #1738648I have no idea what was set up for the event, but I am somewhat familiar with the restaurant. With the buffet setup the restaurant may (or may not?) be uncomfortable with non-paying folks in their restaurant (not that I worry about geocachers, but some restaurants folks only want paying customers around the buffet area.)
That being said, the restaurant does have a bar area too…..in the middle of the restaurant.
And thinking about it now — if I can actually stop by, I probably wouldn’t be partaking of food myself, since it might not be there until 10 or 10:30……oops forgot to add the rest of my thought here! I don’t that it’s a big deal if you don’t want to eat, but they do serve tasty food!!! Maybe a cup of coffee? Some lovely toast?
(Excuse the extra spaces now and then. My Number Two greyhound beat up my keyboard this afternoon)

01/24/2006 at 1:08 am #1738650Last year I did not partake of the buffet. I attended with an Illinois cacher (BigEtheSPE) and we decided that we wouldn’t eat because we didn’t want to eat heavily before hitting the trails.
This event last year (if it is the same restaurant) you paid before entering the room. I just told the person that I wasn’t eating and she was okay with that.
I know what happened at the last breakfast event I attended in Kenosha and I can understand wanting to make sure that all the costs are covered.
Anyway, the cache page states that breakfast needs to be paid for prior to signing the log. Perhaps that is misleading. It would be great if someone could please clarify.
01/24/2006 at 1:55 am #1738651Have another look at the Cache Page.
Looks to be all straightened out.
