Man, I had no idea that this would be so controversial! I was told by people with experience to make sure everyone paid up front and the best way to do that is to make payment associated with the log book. It never occurred to me that people would want to come and not eat. But if you DON’T EAT, you DON’T HAVE TO PAY. And frankly, I expect to lose money on the whole thing.
Hope that clarifies things.

01/24/2006 at 2:39 am #1738654Certainly no one should PLAN to lose money on an event. As one of the people who pulled out the plastic to save the day at another breakfast event, I hope that events are run so that no one is left holding the bag (or the bill) In that case the unpaid portion of the bill was nearly $200.00!
To expect this at an event just isn’t a good idea….leads to a negative self-fufillng prophecy.
Now…I’ll get off the soap box.
01/24/2006 at 3:33 am #1738655I missed the 2nd costly event but my understanding was that it was the resturant (in Kenosha) that really screwed up the bill. I had a rather expensive meal there at the first breakfast when they screwed up the bill.
Needless to say, everyone needs to have some consideration for the event holder in choosing to run the event at their own discretion. I would not go to a breakfast cache without buying someone’s breakfast- (preferably my own).

I don’t believe the question of whether or not a person is required to pay/eat reflects lack of consideration for the event holder. The question was asked to clear up whether or not it was a requirement.

01/25/2006 at 3:07 pm #1738660I’d really like to come but 3 hrs drive is a bit far for me to go for breakfast. Maybe another event sometime!! Have a great time everyone!
01/25/2006 at 10:59 pm #1738661I was looking at making it, but unfortunately my schedule got pushed back a day, so I won’t be passing through the area until Sunday.
01/27/2006 at 1:07 am #1738662Is it me or did the weather forecast take a big dive for Saturday?
01/27/2006 at 3:10 am #173866301/28/2006 at 1:05 am #1738664The rain is supposed to hold off until afternoon. And hey – who’s afraid of a little rain? Remember that icky stuff falling from the sky at last year’s Team Badger Brunch? So I guess it’s tradition!

I remember that day very well! Bob and I also pulled the wallet back out. We also hope that our hostess doesn’t have the same fate.
01/29/2006 at 3:34 am #1738666The family and I had a great time – thanks for the event.
