New to geocaching? I want you to know that you do NOT have to create some kind of team name or handle. I use sbukosky because that is who I am and what is convenient to use on the computer. Several other people here feel the same way.

There is nothing wrong with using a team name but should a member of your team decide to break away and find numbers are of importance to you, that person will start with zero finds unless you go back and relog all your previous finds. (makes for horrible log reading!)

On the other hand, a team name does reduce log clutter.

    Best regards!

I see nothing wrong with using your real name, if you so desire. I generally don’t use my real name online.

I also like that some cachers have seperate accounts for their “team” finds. There have been a couple of “teams” that racked up high numbers when it fact they were caching apart from each other. “Timmy” might have 100 finds and “Mary” might have 100 finds, and they might have another 50 they found tegether, but that does not mean their team really has 250 finds.

Then again, I don’t really give a hoot how someone else compiles their stats. It has absolutely no effect on how much I enjoy my next find.
