Mark your calendars… Sunday, April 24 is the magic date!
We will be hiding all temporary caches on this date, rain or shine.
I have a list of volunteers who’ve expressed interest in helping place caches. I will be getting an email out to verifiy if you will be able to help on this date.
Anyone else who would be interested and able to help us hide on this date should respond to this thread.
I am unsure of a good starting time as I don’t know how many folks will be coming in from further away. Any suggestions are welcome.
Come one, come all!

Co-conspirator to make the world a better place…04/11/2005 at 3:33 pm #1758440Placing temp caches for the campout allows for things that would be difficult to do on permanent caches. Its one of my favorite activities and I would encourage participation if you have the chance.
Questions:
1. How many caches do you plan on placing?
2. What types are you looking for: Fri, Sat, and/or night caches.
3. Does approval need to made by the Park staff?
4. Can caches be placed the day of the hide or must they be present on April 24? (ref #3)[This message has been edited by jthorson (edited 04-11-2005).]
04/11/2005 at 5:39 pm #1758441Does this mean that Arcangl7 is providing all the caches?

I don’t know how many caches we’re planning on placing. We will have permission for them.

04/11/2005 at 8:45 pm #1758443Ruth answered several of the questions already so I’ll fill in the blanks.
Yes, CacheCows have again offered to take care of our Friday Night Puzzler, so no Friday night caches will be needed.
I hesitate to give an exact number of caches we will be placing. I would guess we’d be around the same number as last year (20 something). Primarily I’m looking for a well-covered map, without bunching together. I wider variety is good too. The number of night caches will be much smaller because of the limited time to hunt and the limited area (we’ve traditionally kept these hidden around the group campsites). I would guess ten night caches, max. If you have an idea for a night cache, please contact me directly.
As Ruth indicated, we have quite a few Decon Containers as has been used in the past, but folks are welcome to bring thier own original containers and ideas. As Ruth said, we will need to fit a stamper in it for the cachers to “log” the find.
Ideally, we’d like to have the majority of the caches actually placed on April 24. Certain cache types or situations may make this difficult, but all coordinates for cache placements will be determined on April 24 to avoid bunching. Night caches will generally be placed just before the hunt to avoid accidental finds during the daytime. All cache descriptions, hints, etc. will need to be submitted ASAP (within a week or so) after hiding so the Cache pages can be completed before the campout.
Hope that answers a few of your questions! Keep them coming, this is the first time I’ve planned this so you’re bound to think up things I hadn’t thunk!

Co-conspirator to make the world a better place…04/11/2005 at 11:42 pm #1758444i’ll try to make it. I’m a complete newbie when it comes to placing caches, so i’m hoping for some guidance. I have plenty of containers.
04/12/2005 at 10:39 am #1758445One other thought…
As the number of cache hiders needed is limited, please respond ASAP. Please do not just show up on the 24th. All cache hides and hiders will be coordinated through me, so respond soon.

Co-conspirator to make the world a better place…04/14/2005 at 2:13 pm #1758446I will be there. Will the time and place be announced on this forum? Since I’m new to this I will need to be “coordinated”.
04/15/2005 at 12:01 pm #1758447Put me down as an “alternate”. Something has come up. I think I’ll still be able to make it but just the same, I don’t want to bump someone who can deffinately make it.
Keep on cachin’!

04/15/2005 at 1:27 pm #1758448Specifics as to the actual time and place are being handled via private email. We try to keep everything very organized and accurate when placing the caches. Because of that, we need to have a controlled environment.
We aren’t looking to exclude anyone who has volunteered. We need to know ahead of time who will be there on cache hiding day so we can prepare our materials. We are generally not prepared to handle unannounced “walk up’s”.
Some details are kept secret in the interest national security, if you know what I mean

04/19/2005 at 2:46 pm #1758449Lt. Mrs WISearcher recruited us to make this trip w/ her so I suppose we need to be added to the list of emails going out. We’ll be there rain or shine.

I don’t have a lot of Experience hiding caches, but I will be glad to help out.
