Because of some user name # of charicter descriptions, “Buy_The_Tie” is short for “Should’ve bought him the tie”. I came up with an idea while at the WGA meeting the other night about event caches. I have been to two of them, the 2002 WGA picnic, and The Poker Dash for Cache. One of the problems with these events is that multiple teams show up at a cache while another team is already there. My idea to eliminate this problem is to make each cache a 2-point multi. The first (and published) waypoint would lead to a rather obvious thing (a piece of conduit hammered into the ground, or something of the like). At this first waypoint would be something removable with coordinates of the actual cache, a short distance away. The team would take the coordinates with them, and any other team showing up, would have to wait until they returned. What do you think?
Interesting idea. Once concern is that some of our cache hunters are fairly ghung ho and would get frustrated if they had to wait in line at a cache. Perhaps a variation on your idea would be to have multiple caches coordinates and caches available from a single location. That is, when they arrive at the “mother cache” they pick up one of three possible sets of coordinates, each of which has its own mini cache hidden somewhere nearby. They go find it and then immediately return the marker that has the coordinates back to the mother cache. That way there would be less, if any, waiting in line and each hunting team would be assured that no one else is looking for that mini cache at the same time.
