Just counted the Cache Rescue missions…32! 😯
Time for WGA Members statewide to help keep the outdoors free of geotrash. Take a look at the list and see if there are any caches in your area that should be Verified Present, Maintained, or Removed. If we can show the DNR and other “powers-that-be” that we can police our own game, it makes a good impression, and helps with the PR!
An LTF is just as fun as an FTF! 😀
09/03/2011 at 6:13 pm #1952848I keep looking, but the closest is over 50 miles away. All you slackers in the west and southwest part of the state, let’s pick it up!
On the Left Side of the Road...09/03/2011 at 6:18 pm #1952849I’d love to do Ile du Diable, but river traffic there with a kayak is a bit scary for me. There are a couple local ones we’ll check out when we’re next in that area for our own caches. The rest are there for the LCG people’s enjoyment. 😀
09/03/2011 at 9:23 pm #1952850I’ve eyeballed that one also but forget about it in the winter and during the summer like you say it’s a bit difficult to get to.
09/03/2011 at 11:28 pm #1952851Just checking things out. It looks like CR1489 was just found a few days ago. Maybe it can be considered verified?

09/04/2011 at 2:46 am #1952852I cleaned one up today.

Too much power boat traffic?
On the Left Side of the Road...09/05/2011 at 11:56 am #1952854Power boats and barges. I’ve got it loaded in the Garmin so I can eyeball the location when we’re traveling. The owner mentioned in a log taking the kayak, so I’m assuming he launched from Kiep’s landing in the Trempealeau Refuge. Maybe if I ever get my rack installed on my car, I could take a spin up and just see. Some late fall day when that kind of traffic dies down.
09/05/2011 at 11:59 pm #1952855We were planning to pick up the Briggs Lake cache near Danbury this weekend but we had a change of plans. Hope to still grab it this fall and possibly replace it but not sure how the ATV trails are up there as the winds took down most of the trees in that area. I think the trails are still closed but we should be able to walk out to that one.
09/06/2011 at 1:28 am #1952856Is there any way to put them on a map like the LCG? Some of these places I’ve never heard of and have no idea if they are near my routes.

09/06/2011 at 1:56 am #1952857The cache in Shorewood is the closest for you to Rescue. The rest are several hours north and west of Waukesha. But if you could pick up that geotrash in Shorewood, Mother Nature would smile upon you! 😀
09/06/2011 at 2:12 am #1952858Stopped to do maintenance on the one in Wausau yesterday, but the muggle traffic was too heavy. After 45 minutes of scoping it out and waiting for an opportunity to replace the cache I finally gave up. While I was in town, though, I found another one that probably should (and probably will) be on the CR list.
