In case anyone hasn’t heard, “Cooler Crew” are planning an event to celebrate KB’s placement of 2000 hides.

The Crowning of King Boreas (aka KB’s 2000th hide) 4-25-09
    http://coord.info/GC1HMNE
    (GC 1 Huge MN Event)

They have the large pavilion and surrounding areas at Long Lake Regional Park reserved for the event. Capacity is 500+.

The “Cooler Crew” account is Grey Wolf, Kitch and mucluck. They are heading up the task force to organize this event.

A couple of things they would like help with:

#1 – Please make contact with any fellow cachers from outside the area you know who have found KB’s cache and might be able to attend. If they will be able to come, please have them log their “Will Attends” as soon as they know for sure. We have already contacted the top hiders and finders who likely would attend. If you are unsure as to whether a cacher has been contacted, feel free to contact Grey Wolf via GC.com profile to check on whether someone has already been contacted if you like.

#2 – Plan on attending and log your ‘Will Attends” early.

We hope that this event can draw sufficient numbers of attendees to transform it into a Mega Event status, so promotion will be paramount to that end.

Stay tuned, as there will be more details posted as soon as commitments are made. There also will be opportunities for local caches to help out.

Hope to see you all there. Get those “Will Attends” in early so we can make this the upper midwest’s first Mega Event!!!

    Cheers!

Insane amount of hides, can’t imagine the maintenance runs on them. Are the rumors true that his hides are slingshot into the woods?

Hope y’all have a good party but I won’t be able to make it.

Those of us who would like to see a mega event here in Wisconsin might want to consider that to do so, we would need to attract cachers from surrounding states to attend our event.

It would be a bit easier to do that if we think about supporting efforts to develop mega events in our neighboring states. The Minnesota folks are working on making their King Boreas 2000 hide event a mega event, and need our support to help them do that. I think that to the extent that we can try to support their attempt at a mega event, they will reciprocate and support our attempts to have a mega event in Wisconsin.

To that end, I plan on attending Minnesota’s attempt at a mega event, even though they are still unsure if they can get to the 500 mark. I hope that those who want a mega event here will consider going to GC1HMNE and posting a “will attend.”

    Thank you.

Very Good point Zuma. Having attended events in other states (Minnesota, Indiana and Georgia) I can say that it is fun meeting with like minded people who outside your normal circle (WGA in this case)
One of the things I will never forget about cahcing is at the Georgia Event when they were doing a demonstration on vemonous snakes and place a rattler on the table my wife and I were sitting at, needless to say we moved quickly.
That being said I dont know what we will be doing in April, but I would think there would be a good chance we could attend (hey its only a 5 hour drive). If WGA members attend one thing I recommend is take your WGA nametags to wear, they will get noticed

Just a bump. Hope to see you all there! If you think you might attend, please post a will attend. We are getting closer to this becoming a mega event.

    Cheers!

    Da Bloodhound will be there.

Love him or hate him (his hides that is) The guy is a pillar of geocaching history, always willing to help or offer advice and a genuinely nice guy.

Make a point of being there you wouldn’t regret it! 😆

T-minus 1 week. Hope to see you all there! We’re very close to the 500 attendees needed for Mega status. If we show 500 people, not 500 GC accounts attended, they will retroactively change this to a Mega Event. So, come have fun and you might just get a new icon out of the deal!

    Cheers!
