LOL! Ummm well The King’s is 3 hrs away and I’m co-hosting the other.
04/22/2009 at 9:46 am #1899607OK, I think we’re really really close.
If you’re undecided, please come.
If you’ve decided to pass, please reconsider.
There are 20+ caches in the park, and Ramsey County normally allows 4-5. They provided the Pavilion at no charge. Great supporters of geocaching.
My friends have worked for months on this, and I’d like to see them rewarded. With a strong Wisconsin contingent, it would put us over the top. “Will attends” are requested.
I can almost guarantee a huge caravan of vehicles will come east for any attempt you might have.
Please ??

Those of us who would like to see a mega event here in Wisconsin might want to consider that to do so, we would need to attract cachers from surrounding states to attend our event.
It would be a bit easier to do that if we think about supporting efforts to develop mega events in our neighboring states. The Minnesota folks are working on making their King Boreas 2000 hide event a mega event, and need our support to help them do that. I think that to the extent that we can try to support their attempt at a mega event, they will reciprocate and support our attempts to have a mega event in Wisconsin.
To that end, I plan on attending Minnesota’s attempt at a mega event, even though they are still unsure if they can get to the 500 mark. I hope that those who want a mega event here will consider going to GC1HMNE and posting a “will attend.”
Thank you.

Still my thinking on this. See ya all there.

04/23/2009 at 12:55 pm #1899609Ah Ha……finally got registered (WGA messages go to Spam, but I fixed that).
Anyhow, we really hope to see a large contingent of our friends from the east to come on over to the event. Wear your WGA T-Shirts so we can say ‘Hello’ and welcome you.
There are many surprises in store that KB doesn’t know about yet. It’s going to be a fantastic event. Please attend for whatever your reason is: Meeting KB, meeting new cachers, trading stories with old friends, free keg Root Beer, door prizes, or just to find some caches. We have 17 new LOGABLE caches pre-approved by Surfer Joe and he will be publishing them at 9 am. We will have coordinates printed and gpx files to load on popular GPS models beginning at 8 am………no early finds. There also are 3 existing caches in the park.
And as far as the weather goes, like Jimmy Buffett says “Take the Weather With You”. We have a huge pavilion reserved that will accommodate all 500 attendees in case of any rain. What better a place to socialize with other cachers on a Saturday?
We really need 500 attendees and hope that folks here will support our efforts to make this a MEGA event by bringing the whole family and we will return the favor.
Thanks, and I look froward to seeing everyone Saturday.

All hail the king!
For those unable to attend, this event did go mega, with just over 500 people in attendance. It was a great event, and very well organized. Looked like we had about 40 people that I knew from Wisconsin there, maybe more that I didnt see.
By the way, this event featured 20 permanent caches in the park and no temps. More and more, event planners are realizing that to have a successful geocaching event, you need to have a reasonable number of permanent caches, along with a variety of family oriented activities. (Hopefully, we will see placed soon at High Cliff.)

I am proud to have been a part of this event. I brought a car load of 6 cachers to the event too. It was a ton of fun. Like zuma said, it was very well organized, especially for the kids!

The amount (and quality) of games, activities and entertainment they provided for the kids (and adults too) was amazing. The 4 kids that we brought had a wonderful time. Even the 5 year old! She walked to all the caches with us and never complained! Outstanding job!
04/27/2009 at 3:40 pm #1899613I’m glad those that attended had a great time. Thank you so much for coming it really means a lot to us here in Minnesota.
I do need to admit something to WI…
I was extremely worried because of I have attended some amazing events in WI…2005 WGA campout and “The mother of all Breakfasts -2004”..I was happy to see this event was on the same level of fun.
Again thank you to all those that come its why it was a success.
04/29/2009 at 3:44 am #1899614My first time caching out of WI. When Van’s Clan cordially invite the LEU crew to ride over with them, we couldn’t resist and made the necessary arrangements to move things around so we could attend. As mentioned, I had both my 8-year old Natalie and my 5-year old Eden with me and they had a fabulous time. They loved all the activities….. Natalie is the girl that ended up assisting the entertainer and had so much fun and Eden loved watching her big sister be part of the show. Of course, they loved KB’s big CAKE!!!!! I was skeptical about being to complete 20 some caches with Eden, being only 5 but she trekked along just fine for being up since 5am. Van’s Clan was so great with my kids and even carried Eden on his shoulders in between caches. Thanks Dale!!!! Surprisingly, we left at around 6pm and they didn’t fall asleep until about 7:30pm. They were 2 wired from all the excitement that day!!!!
Thanks again to all the organizers for this great event. I’m glad that several WI cachers made the trip to help this event go MEGA. Now, let’s do it in Wisconsin. Happy Caching Everyone!!!!! LEU
BTW, I brought back with me a nice Minnesota deer tick that crawled up my leg and bit me in my groin area. Had 2 go 2 the doctor after the head stayed in and got a small bull eye around the bite by Sunday. Test came back negative for Lyme, thank god!!!! TFTExcitment!!!
