I have the same opinion. My excitement will either increase or decrease once the “requirements” are better defined.
The upside – Options for Federal and other protected lands that don’t allow physical containers.
The downside – Need I say more – waymarking.com
01/25/2011 at 7:34 pm #1942383It will be interesting to see the “controls” surrounding these and how that reconciles with groundspeak’s continued movement away from “verification” features put in by COs–ALRs, photos, etc.
Ah-course, if their objective is just to have more, more, more, more opportunities to tick up the ol’ find-o-meter, then you just open the floodgates and let people start logging whether they’re on-site or in Germany.
On the Left Side of the Road...01/25/2011 at 8:47 pm #1942384Whoohoo! I’m not sure I’m wound up about new ones but glad to see that the old ones have a chance at survival in some form. There are some cool ones out there.
01/25/2011 at 9:00 pm #1942385Hooray! I like the virtuals. I like that they bring us to new places, even if there isn’t really a place to hide a container.

I agree, I like the general historic nature of most of the virtuals that we’ve done. It’s always fun to find these neat little areas that I probably otherwise would never know about.
01/26/2011 at 5:46 am #1942387I hope that this could be the real deal as I’ve had an idea for a virtual that would pay tribute to Dr. Laurel Salton Clark who perished along with the other crew members of STS-107, but with the current ban on virtuals could never be placed… Maybe a virtual requirement similar to earthcache requirements would be the way to prevent “lame” virtuals???
