LOL! Ralph kept asking me about The Gauntlet. I told him, that if my 10 year old son could do it, then it was certainly within his capabilities. I wish I could have been there for zuma’s discovery. 😀 Getting together with the other cachers made it worth it, right?

I am not saying, but I MAY have called LO an unprintable name for this forum, just before we both busted out laughing. LOL….Cant recall what that name was, but LO might recall.

(giggles) I recall very well (grins) and I am still confused on why you think I’m someone’s ‘son’

Wow.. this is the first night I’m actually laughing about my Gauntlet in the last month.. THANKS guys for sharing these memories..

    LO,
Everyone who found the Gauntlet took away some sort of memory or keepsake or friendship.. So i’ll be one of the many who thank you for giving me a wonderful memory/keepsake/and friendships that will hopefully last for years to come!
    Thank you

and on a lighter note- i told my sister about the truth of the Gauntlet and she has yet to talk to me, every time i have called her so far all she says is “I don’t want to talk to you” and hangs up.. its funny.. i love it! no worries she’ll get over it! she usually does..
What is sad i almost had her conviced to actually do the Gauntlet.. of course i guess its kind of a good thing cuz she would of killed me right there on the spot…

    Hey LO,

Glad to hear that the Gauntlet Memories are bringing you a little of the joy you brought everyone else by placing and maintaining it for so long. I know that I am not alone in having fond memories of the Gauntlet and the great chance to meet a really great bunch of people. Sure, I could have had a more “productive” day in chasing down 20 skirtlifters, but I dont do this to be productive anyway, and I doubt that there would be many memories doing those. If I wanted to be productive, I would clean my house. LOL.

I hope you have a Great Christmas, and have all of the joy you deserve this season from all the memories of great places you visited caching, knowing that you have brought joy, fun and adventure to those of us who have followed in your footsteps and found the great caches you placed, at the Gauntlet, and throughout Wisconsin.

    Smiles LO

This cache brought more smiles to people than frowns.

I can’t remember but it was either Zuma Or Jakesdiner that was still looking for the second waypoint even after reading the log. Then someone blurted out “You gotta be kidding me!” Of course there may have been an explicative in that phrase as well.

These are the things that I cherished while doing the Gauntlet. That and seeing the ambulance on the way out. Marc Benny and I just laughed as I scrambled for the camera.

Rest assured this cache was more fun than it was heartache.

    Dear LO,

Always know you’ve got a Geobuddy up here in St. Croix County that will
always remember and never forget that this crazy game we play is just for fun and nothing else. Know too that The Gauntlet was and will always be, one of my favorite geocaches right along side another of yours (you know which one!).

I also want to tell you that when I embark on an adventure regardless of the type, if I don’t achive the results I expected, I blame no one but myself.

An example of this would be last winter when I finally convinced Cat to go up to Madeline Island with me via the ice road. I did my reasearch and planned for the best time of year to go. The time when the ice would be the thickest. Well, we got there and we found an open sea!! The ice never formed last year.

Anyway, my long winded point is this: You NEVER deserved to get the flak you did for the Gauntlet!! You played a good game and I’m darn proud I was one of those lucky enough to find it!

P.S. You should hide another geocache similar but this one, don’t leave a container. Call it the Vikings. Ya know, nothing to look forward to!!!

PS Jeremy, I was talking with Santa tonight, he said get the stable ready for your pony and world peace is on its way! I was requesting gear to prepare for THE GAUNTLET! 😉

Well it is now almost a month after Christmas, but I’m happy to report that I got my pony from Santa this weekend. Thanks to I M W/U (Peace B W/U) for boarding and feeding him since Christmas and for getting him down to the Milwaukee area. Santa said he’s working on the world peace thing, but since there are so many non-believers and stubborn people out there, he’s having a tough time. (Also, he informed me that someone named Lisa is getting a lump of coal for the next several decades?? ;))

Just like The Gauntlet cache, the pony I ended up with wasn’t what I was expecting to get initially. And in both cases I think that I’m actually more satisfied with what the Lil Otter and Santa gave to me than I would have been with the “real thing”. (This miniature pony is great because it can live inside the house instead of out in my garage, and I don’t have to hook up a trailer to haul it around! :))

    Oh Jeremy,
that’s like one of those sh**less ponies Jim tried to talk his parents into getting as a pet from the fair when he was a kid… you’ll have to ask him about that one…. can’t help think of the story everytime we see a “Shetland.”

I grew up on a hobby farm, and I wish they really were sh**less. Many a life’s lesson was learned behind a shovel 😯 . I’ll have to hear that story next time we cross paths. I’ll swap for the one about me being three years old and casting aspersions as to the parenthood of the other drivers on the road (following my mother’s example of course).

    #1767524

Oh. And now I want a pony too 😀 .

    #1767525

I actually own a pony… well she’s actually a horse.. “Rosy” is a half Quarter horse/Arab.. bay (copper colored with black mane and tail) She lives at my daughter’s home and she’s over 25 years old. I almost thought I lost her about a week ago, but she’s up and about. I’m not good at figuring out how to put in her picture here so.. you’ll just have to take my word on it (smiles)

If we ever start trading pony stories. I have one that happened one Saturday morning after watching The Lone Ranger.

Oh, it is quite true. Trudy & I have seen Lil Otter’s horse, but it is not a sh**less pony.
