Am I missing anyone?? Did I add too many to the list? Anyone else want to go?
As it stands now, we can nicely do 3 teams, going out in intervals. If we had a total of 12 going, then maybe do 4 teams out. Think this will work great. Will work on the List of things to consider to take with us. As always taking suggestions. Also, time and place of meeting. Though Lil Otter gave a great suggestion of meeting up at a local restaurant, several have e-mailed and though that meeting in the general area of the trail head might be good too. I will contact Lil Otter to see what she has to say aobut the immediate area. Not sure of the nature of the area. Also, how about eats???
Da fu… back and ready to attack!

Comfortable hiking boot – remember, this is a 6 mile hike!!
Backpack
Extra clothing/shoes
Heavier work glove
Protective eyewear
GPS – that’s a given LOL
Compass
Topomap of areaFirst aid kit (insurance car/ list of meds -always good to have, just incase)
Flashlite/headlamp – bigger than a mini-Mag is preferred

2-way radios (the more the merrier) / cell phones
Water/ sports drinks to carry with/for after
Snack foods etc, for trek in and after. If you can think of anything else… bring it. Don’t want to pack too heavy!
Meeting Time/PLace
I would say lets try to get at a meeting spot by 0930 with first group going out at 1000. I will look into a meeting place/coords today or tomorrow.
You know you’re REALLY lost when even the GPS gives up on you! LOL04/26/2005 at 9:00 pm #1750455I’ll be leaving from the Waukesha area around 7AM on Sunday. I have room for (2) people if anyone would like to car pool.

04/26/2005 at 9:18 pm #1750456After canceling a motorcycle trip to Duluth this past weekend because of the cold weather, I’m having second thoughts about making this weekend a motorcycle camping weekend. So Digital_Dan, do you have any room for me in your vehicle? Or alternatively, I could pick up/take anyone else interested in going from the Milwaukee area. I definitely don’t have a problem with driving there by myself… I just don’t want to have an unreasonable number of vehicles out there.
Sounds like we are going to meet at the trailhead at 9:30am on Sunday? There appears to be a parking area and boat landing/canoe launch (?) very near the site of the first cache. It is at the end of Norway Drive at coordinates N43 34.998 W89 43.623. Fu, can you communicate this information to Lil Otter to see if she wants to meet us there…
As far as equipment, from the logs it seems like some sort of waders/high boots could be useful. I plan to bring both hiking boots and waders, as scrambling up rocks in waders is probably not a good idea.
Also, it would be nice if people could wait (please ) to start the cache hunt until everyone gets there (with the first group going out at 10am as Fu suggested)…

04/26/2005 at 10:09 pm #1750458I don’t own wadders and don’t plan on buying any jsut for this , guess I’ll have to suffer!
04/26/2005 at 10:38 pm #1750459I sent out official e-mails to those who have contacted me that way, with driving issues, cell #’s etc.
Since we don’t know how long this will take…not sure what ppl want to do about a meal. Taking suggestions!!!

04/27/2005 at 3:27 pm #1750461Does anyone have some suggested routes for driving to the Gauntlet location?
04/27/2005 at 5:32 pm #1750462Also, ideas on trade items?
04/27/2005 at 7:14 pm #1750463The route I noticed from the south was I90 to Portage, just before Portage I39 comes in at the split off, take I39 North . Once up near Portage, off I39 take hwy 16 towards the Dells. Look for CO. “O”, make left on Co. “O” or Peterson Rd, then take a right on Ingebretson Road, follow that and straight and it will turn into Fox Run Rd, then Norway Rd.
That’s the best I can come up with form down the MIlwaukee way.
From the NOrth, we’ll have to pick up 151 out of Fond du Lac then once thru Waupaun, pick up Hwy 33 then follow the same directions once we get to I39.

Actually from the North, we can pick up Hwy 16 on the east side or Portage then take it over and not even have to get on I39
