Well, we usually go to Vegas for our wedding anniversary (since we were married there) and my birthday in October. However this year is our ten year anniversary and we are going to travel to the north end of the state. Does anyone know of any really nice or nice cabin/cottage rentals on a lake near Eagle River.
08/16/2009 at 2:22 am #1912423Haven’t stayed on a lake near eagle river, but have camped at Hi-Pines, nice spot just on the north edge of town. TE’s place looks pretty nice too 😛
If it doesn’t have to be ER, I’d recommend heading to the other side of the county to Manitowish Waters and Tellefson’s Lorwood on Stone Lake:

If you don’t need to be on the lake or just want a good burger, stay and eat at the “Best Burger by a Dam Site”: http://www.thepeapatch.com/
Lots of really good places to stay in MW if you can’t get in to those.
No matter where you pick I hope you enjoy your 10th!

TE08/18/2009 at 1:08 am #1912426Keep them coming, great suggestions so far. I was just using Eagle River as a reference point. Anywhere up in that area would be great.
08/18/2009 at 2:27 am #1912427If you are looking at the first weekend in Oct. be aware that is Cranberry Days and you should book a room soon. If you are looking at the week after that it may be peak of color and depending on the weather rooms may be hard to come by.
Not sure exactly what you are looking for but there are plenty of things to do up here. Have you looked at the Eagle River Chamber page on the net?

How far north or west? Hayward, Bayfield?

TEFirst weekend in October is also Applefest in Bayfield – one of my favorites, but you’d also have to book ASAP. AND…there’s a Geo-event in Boulder Junction the first weekend in October – something to think about.
