The Green Lake Leprechauns GC17WDZ
can this cache be accessed from land or do i need a boat?07/30/2009 at 10:50 pm #1911513it was placed when there was ice on the lake so unless you wait for those conditions, I think a boat or other watercraft is necessary. from the overhead maps I have looked at, the trek from the nearest road would be lengthy and perhaps across private property, I have no way to check that. I am hoping to chase that one tomorrow if conditions are favorable for a kayak outing, so I can let you know more after that, if all goes well.

07/31/2009 at 12:20 am #1911514We found it in winter, but it is accessable by water from Hwy. A. Canoe, jet-ski, or boat will get you there. There are fewer weeds on a SW approach to the “island”. It is a very fun multi! 😀

07/31/2009 at 6:04 pm #1911516I know Green Lake is pretty big but just an FYI that there will be 2 triathlons held this Sunday morning (August) 2nd. They will do the swim portion (1/4 mile and 1/2 mile) in the lake and then bike (16 miles and 25 miles) around the lake area (never did this course before). Back in my triathlon days, we biked into Ripon and then ran around the campus. So not sure exactly where the running/biking portion will be. Expect some roads closed and some intersections backed up in the morning. Tami

Sorry ’bout the 2 DNF’s on the GLSS series. I’ll check them out soon, but they were all there a little while ago! 🙁
08/01/2009 at 3:26 am #1911518Yup, got ‘er done and as I was paddling back to my launch point, I got to meet djwini firsthand and chat about the adventure. Looks like she will be doing this one on a future trip. Oh, and no, I opted to not go for the Marco!Polo! cache. I will wait for a larger boat to tackle the distance from the nearest landing. Wish I could have accessed that one from the shore as I found myself only about 100 yds away at one point.
