I really enjoyed the area too.. just so you know.. it’s my 60th cache to find.. sorry that I beat you two (grins towards the Hotdogs)but I waited a couple days hoping you’d beat me to first finder..
~The Lil Otter
Well I did honestly wait a few days (7 days to be exact).. kept looking at that cache and hoping that the Hotdogs off trail would log it soon.. finally realized that they weren’t about to so I even wrote them.. (grins).. nothing worked so I had to go on the hunt.. didn’t realize that I beat them by a few hours til I read their log post (smiles).. each cache has a special memory for me.. but this one really was fun knowing that they called me sneaky (grins).. so cute..
~The Lil Otter (almost retired for the winter but will brave it tomorrow.. oops today.. tagging along with Miata on his hunting trip here in my neck of the woods)[This message has been edited by The Lil Otter (edited 10-14-2002).]
10/17/2002 at 10:27 pm #1735185Seems the Hotdogs and Little Otter have a bit of a local rivalry going. If she waited 7 days, why couldn’t she wait a couple more hours (sneaky otter)? It’s fun following an otter around the state, but this is the closest we came on a hunt (I always put the time of day on our logs for just this purpose). Out in the boonies here we rarely meet other hunters on the trail unless we know they will be there. So in our spare time we otter watch.
10/18/2002 at 3:40 am #1735186You both have missed the purpose of my post….I thought it was funny to see a post were ‘Lil Otter had 60 finds! I told her about the post while hiking, but must not have explained the humor I found in it. Any who, you guys have some very nice land in this neck of the woods! I would love to buy a piece of it when I get back on my feet! 10+ acres with a creek and room to run a couple of ATV’s with the kids would be heaven!

I decided to bust out of Wisconsin for a bit and head on over to meet a few geocachers. I’m making the rounds of Illinios, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virgina for a long week of geocaching.. (just hopping off of Interstate 80 on my way to PA)Hopefully, upon my return trip.. I’ll meet up with my Ohio host (that reminds me of how Artophy torments us with his caches) BigDrano’s two caches just busted me the first go..so, I’ll make it a point to return that same way in hopes of actually finding them (grins).. Also, I’ll be stopping by the Michiana Area Geocache Picnic on Nov 9th to meet that crew.
Boy these guys in Pittsburgh really rate their cache terrains low (giggles) I’ve never been so tired doing 1/1’s before.. I kept teasing my Pittsburgh host ~ The Leprechauns ~ of how I’d love to see a wheelchair make it up those huge cliffs (grins).. Just think of our state’s “River Cache” rated a 1/1 and you’ll know what I’ve had to deal with (grins)or our “Devil’s Lake Revisited” with a smaller patch of boulders..
I have a new respect for Pittsburgh, this place reminds me so much of our La Crosse area.
I’ve also grabbed up about seven Travel Bugs that I’ll be bringing back to Wisconsin.. and will try to sprinkle some around Milwaukee on Monday, as I try to do a SE’ern caching day there.
I’ve done a few personal things I’m proud of.. please read my logs “Purgatory On A Stick (Michigan)” (felt sorry for all those NOTES and no LOGS so I proved how fearless us Wisconsinites can be) (grins).. and “Elves in the Heights (Pitts, Pennsylvania)” (had been informed that the best time to sign the log book was 1.5hrs..)
All in all.. I really miss our tricky caches and twisted humor.. no Nells tied to train tracks.. no silly hats to wear as I hunt down weasels.. no piles of crap to pick up.. no crypts to spook the life out of me..
You get the message.. I’m getting homesick..
(I’m sure they have their unique caches.. remember I’ve just traveled through on my way to get to Pittsburgh and just did a selective run of those I thought were a good relaxing time on the way)..It sure is amazing to put on 1000 miles to get to Pitts.. caching along the way sure is a joy!! the miles just flew by.

11/08/2002 at 1:35 pm #1735188I didn’t think you would have packed it in for the winter 🙂 I don’t doubt that a trip like this would bring adventure and excitement for you being the high energy geocacher that you are.
Looking forward to hearing more about the trip when you get settled back into your Otter house.
11/08/2002 at 3:24 pm #1735189I knew Lil Otter was on a Mid-Atlantic states geocaching trip because I received an email from a cache on my watch list that I hunted in Cleveland, Meadow Ridge Batstash. Good luck in your continued adventures. Drive safely.
11/08/2002 at 3:29 pm #1735190It’s 9:16 AM on my computer Ken. Must be a time warp. 🙂

For example, I’m sending this at 2:59 p.m.
11/12/2002 at 2:10 am #1735192You da man!
Okay, we have just added a timesync module that will sync the WGA server’s clock to the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

11/13/2002 at 6:31 pm #1735193I’s back (grins)… enjoyed this last trip out. It’s so nice to find geocaches again. And to find a surprising cache close to home.. it’s still stumping me.. but I’ll tackle that one again soon.
I was surprised that only a couple of the 100 caches I found.. pertained to historical sites.. I really was all worked up about learning on the way.. but I set up two around their backyard. We really have a great roadside manner as far as pointing out our history. LaSalle now means more to me than just a walk in the park. But it felt odd placing cache containers so far from home. But those that have done it were starving for caches to do.. they hit on them like locust (grins).. even invites to return to plant some more (chuckles)..
Now I’m plotting my next trip to GA / FL area.. will take me ages to print out all their sheets.. they really have alot of history..
I said I was semi-retired from caching in winter up here.. (grins).. not retired from caching. But there were some real nasty days I was in.. just glad to have missed the snows (grins)… I didn’t even bring boots.. just wore my famous, beatup tennies (grins)..

12/13/2002 at 2:13 am #1735194Well I figured I’d post here that I have been upgrading all my cache pages this month.. these should be helpful to those that are looking for:
~Winter-friendly cache~
~Not in a Hunting Area~
~Hunting Allowed Here – Wear Blaze Orange in season~
~Roadside Interest~
~Bring a pen/pencil to sign the log~
~National Register of Historic Places~
etc.I also added the WGA logo as well as to add pictures to some cache pages..
Hope this helps..
