KEWL idea! Not sure what a site like that would entail, but I have seen a few of them out there that are similar.
Like the poll thing!!

DELETE – NO02/01/2006 at 4:44 am #1744475EDIT—NO
DELETE-NO(I have a strong opinion/reason for both, but Russ did say he could delete this thread if I post “undesired comments”)
…and I’ve heard he has an itchy trigger finger.

Can I put one of those on my life?
Back on subject…
EDIT: YES
DELETE: NO(Comment at the risk of being deleted. I think people should be able to delete their posts – not threads. However, being able to edit essentially allows deletion because one could delete all content and just the empty post remains. This way, those of us approaching really old age, or at least acting like it (this includes me), would at least have some indicator that they really *had* read a post by that person and it wasn’t just their imaginations.)

I think the ability to edit your own posts is essential, even though this opens up a backdoor for post deletion. This is especially true with the current forum software because there is no “preview” feature. When trying to do links, bulleted lists, and other fancy stuff I usually get it wrong about half the time, and I can’t tell it is wrong until it has been submitted.
And yes, the new forum software lets members create polls and attach them to a forum topic. I believe it is restricted to one poll per topic, but I could be wrong.
Any edit/delete restrictions the membership wants and the Board can sign off on can be implemented immediately with the current software.)

Delete – Yes.I have posted a number of threads, which I have gone back and deleted. Mainly, this has been when the thread had served it’s purpose. such as announcing a caching trip somewhere, and asking who is interested.
I am addicted to ‘cleaning up’, so when the trip is over, I see no reason to keep the thread.
There are probably other occasions as well where the thread can be deleted.
I would guess that the end result here is that no one will post to my threads if they feel I might delete them. Oh well, I guess I will have to reconsider ……..
