After a new series up I feel degrated! I worked so hard for over 2 years with a 24 hour fix on my caches. Now with a wife and home and 2 dogs it’s really hard. Way behind on logs etc. I have came up with very cool hides, I think so. Some copied by others. Should I give it up? Many thoughts left of new hides never seen before. What do you think?
05/13/2010 at 11:49 pm #1929131We hope you decide to keep your hides available. We’ve found quite a few and have certainly enjoyed them. It would be a real loss if they were to be archived.
05/14/2010 at 12:32 am #1929132Hey Brian. I wasn’t even sure you were still geocaching as you hadn’t logged a cache in a year (until recently) …but it is obvious that you take very good care of your hides as I constantly see your notes and maintenance reports.
The new series I’m sure was not created to snub anyone but rather to point out a few folks that for whatever reason stuck out in the hiders mind…maybe they did or said something funny or were just more visible of late….Your caches are the ones that most us in the area cut their teeth on…they are fun and well taken care of.
It would be a shame to see anything happen to your hides…I’d love even more to see what else you have up your sleeve in terms of new hides…For the record I have one and only one TEMP hide in my files; of the hundreds I deleted I kept just one that you placed.
It does look like that new pooch is keeping you busy…I see him on Facebook from time to time.

Brian, I can only echo these thoughts. In particular, I have noticed, and I am sure others have too, that you are the best in the state in maintaining your caches. You are diligent and very good about going out and checking your caches and making sure they are there as you intended, and I know that many of us really appreciate that!!!
When I head down towards Waukesha, and cache that I see place by you are always high on my “to do” list, since I know for sure that they will be there as advertised. In fact, I just checked your profile page and list of caches owned, and I notice that I have found nearly all of your active caches, and 40 of your overall 93 hides. (Most of the ones that I have missed are already archived.) Clearly, your caches are some of the nicest around, and certainly yours are the best maintained caches in the state.
So, I would say “No.” Dont archive them. Even though you are a bit out of my normal circle of caching due to distance, I make a point of going after any cache with “The Tapps” listed as cache owner when in the Waukesha area.
In short, keep up the good work, and dont worry too much about what folks may or not think. Those who cache a lot know you have really good caches.

05/14/2010 at 4:41 pm #1929134Please don’t archive your caches. We have not found many of them and Waukesha is are area of focus for this summer. I have been told by many a few of yours are must finds. Translation: A selfish plea.
05/14/2010 at 4:54 pm #1929135Like Ralph, for as far from your home base as we’re located, I see we’ve found 31 of yours, and many were fun and memorable ones for us. I think anytime those kind of series are placed, the risk of someone being left out is there. No doubt completely unintended, but it can happen. Please consider keeping your caches alive, because as others have said, we know you take great care of them and that means a lot when out of towners visit. We know if it says “The Tapps,” it’s probably there and if we can’t find it…..it’s our own fault! In other words…..they don’t get screened out of our PQs. Plus, as long as you’ve been in the game, many are true classics in the state. We’d hate to see more of those fall off the map.
05/14/2010 at 8:28 pm #1929136I am pretty sure we have found most of your caches, and you do set the bar very high on keeping them maintained. Therefore, I say scrap the house, dogs and wife and hide more caches! Just kidding. Seriously, my recomendation is find a balance. If that means archiving caches or adopting them out, then so be it. What I would hate to see is for you to burn out and stop hiding caches completely. However, what ever you decide, you have earned our respect; I know your decision is not an easy one.
Thanks for all you have hidden.
BTW we refer to Waukesha as Tappsville. [/b]
05/14/2010 at 9:39 pm #1929137Don’t quote me, but I believe I saw somewhere that there was a session 2 with more names that will be placed in the future for the caches I believe you are talking about…. I hate to see any caches archived as I just started in Feb. and I am working outwards from my home coords… I am sure I will be hitting your area over the summer as I work my way around and look forward to the many caches you have placed and that are in your area….
05/14/2010 at 10:23 pm #1929138I guess that I will keep them going. My logs will get caught up some day. First comes the wife, house and the 2 girls [our labs]. Then time for the maintenance and logs. Thanks for the feed back.
05/14/2010 at 11:36 pm #1929139Brian. I’ve done a lot of your caches in the past year, and like your creativity as well as the fact that you make good use of the park systems out your way. Even with tough hides, you leave hints to help narrow down the search a bit. I guess what I’m trying to say is Thanks and keep it going to what you feel up to.
05/14/2010 at 11:49 pm #1929140While I’ve never been to your caches, man, I’ll say this: Don’t be afraid to ask a fellow cacher in the community to ask for help in maintaining your caches if you can’t do it yourself. I’m sure one would be willing to help.
All you have to do on your end is post maintenance logs and such.
Just a thought.
05/17/2010 at 2:27 am #1929141Brian,
Like many others we have really enjoyed your caches. One of yours was our very first one which we still remember doing on a very cold Dec. 26. Please do not give up. But if you do feel the need and want to archive, please think about adopting them out, I know we would take some to keep them active. My wife and I still comment on quite a few of yours as we drive by them commenting on the quality and fun we had. If you need help with maintance drop me an email I will gladly help you.Jeff
