Congratulations on your Geoanniversary.
I know my caching excursions have been very limited but I agree I have “met” a few cachers thru these forums & can not wait to meet them in real life someday (hopefully soon). You are right also about the members of this group we call “home”…..everyone for the most part are very helpful & friendly. It takes a large group of “types” of people to make this a fun place to “hang out” in. With all the senses of humor (good & bad) who can not have fun here?
Again congrats ! ! !
10/17/2009 at 10:28 pm #1915389congrats!!!!
It was nice to meet you both!!!!
10/17/2009 at 10:38 pm #1915390I ditto what you all say but want to add that we also have “geo-family” outside of Wisconsin….AbbysGrammy and NashvilleJoe from TN, Deermark from Kentucky, GeoPirate from Germany, Alamogul from CA,
Fegan from Florida, JoeGPS from TN, IceCreamMan from Florida, plus many many many more from all around. Tami
PS Congrats on your geo-Anniversary as well.

10/18/2009 at 2:42 am #1915393Congratulations on the caching anniversary. I agree with you that although numbers are fun, it is the people who cache that make this activity really special. I treasure the friendships that caching has brought me, but even more I treasure the closeness that has developed between my brother and I since we started caching. I am looking forward to meeting you at an event in the future!

Two years ago today we found our first geocache. Last year at this time we were reflecting on the numbers. This year we found almost twice as many caches as last, but we are now reflecting not on the numbers but on the people in geocaching. We attended more events this year, we’ve been communicating more with other cachers, and we’ve even dropped a post or two in the forums here. While we still basically cache alone, we have come to enjoy the give-and-take plus the overall camaraderie of this geocaching activity. We enjoy getting the email notices that our caches have been found, we like it when other cachers ask us about certain caches (either ours or ones we have found), and there’s nothing like putting out or working to solve puzzle caches to get an exchange going.
Even though we have met some of you at events and/or elsewhere (and we highly recommend attending events), many of you are still faceless names on logs or in the forums. That doesn’t matter, though, because we’ll bump into you one of these days, and because we’re all members of this wonderful caching community, it will feel like old home week, and we’ll be swapping stories before you know it.
Thanks to everyone for making our past two years memorable, and here’s to a great Year #3!
And Thank You ( and everyone else) for being the type of person who makes it easy to fit in this group. While I feel as though I am one of the faceless names for you on the site, I can’t wait to meet you on the trails “up north” one day. I know I have dropped off the face of the forums pages since school started, but I just had to thank you. Yours was a touching post. My family feels the same way about our hobby and we could not have said it any better!

I have four to spare…
True story…a client of mine made togas as a promo item (LOOONG story) a few years ago. On my last visit I was convinced I needed them for something and asked if they had extras. So I came home with four togas and Da Wife asked “what are those for?” Well, for the thing, I answer. You know, the thing we need them for? Don’t know if I dreamt it or if I’m losing my mind (no answer needed).
Anyway, back to the point of the thread…

On the Left Side of the Road...10/19/2009 at 12:32 am #1915397You know you make me want to…SHOUT
Put your hands up and…SHOUT
C’mon now…SHOUT! 😀10/19/2009 at 1:05 am #1915398Well DUH!!! I just figured it out. We need four togas for the Fondy Flash Feast! 😳
So I’m not crazy, just absent minded.
On the Left Side of the Road...10/19/2009 at 1:10 am #1915399Congrats, Sandlanders.
I myself just had my half year geo-versary yesterday. I found my first cache April 17 of this year. I’ve some a long way since in that short amount of time. Even though I’ve only been caching for 6 months, it seems like 6 years.
10/20/2009 at 3:53 am #1915400Happy Geoversary! Being new cachers we were just thinking a while back where we’re going to be in a couple years. We’ve made so many memories caching in such a short amount of time, we can only imagine how many you and those who have been doing this for a couple of years have. Congrats and hope to put a face to the name sometime.
10/20/2009 at 3:20 pm #1915401I too am coming up on my 2nd aniversary. It wasn’t until this august that I really became addicted. Now every morning (even in the rain and cold) my one year old daughter and i go find a cache or two. Once in a while we get 3. We have hiked as little as 5 feet to as long as 5 miles going from cache to cache. This year I only attended one event and what a memorable event it was (Waukesha winter jamboree). I am looking forward to getting out more next year so I can continue to meet new people and discover new places as I travel around. Thanks to all who have helped me become addicted. Even my wife after having a couple bad experiences caching with me in the beginning is coming around. This year was a good year… next year will be even better for so many reasons.
