I like it. It’s a nice way to give ideas and, well, feedback 🙂 I’ve posted a couple of ideas and I know -cheeto- has too. Anybody else use it yet?
07/02/2010 at 5:59 pm #1932356What’s so great about this feedback feature is that people are engaged. They are indicating what they want in an interactive forum and getting responses from Groundspeak. You have their attention. Why not do something with it???
Please use this opportunity to speak your peace! You may never have this type of opportunity again to help shape geocaching.com.
I also love that it’s available to all not just the premium members. The current website forum is only available to premium members. Speaking of the current website forum, this new feedback mechanism seems to have also broken down the barriers a bit. In the past if someone went to the groundspeak forum and posted an idea they were blasted by a select group of “forum regulars”. What you have now are many more people chiming in. Many of the forum regulars are off in the forums complaining how this new feedback thing sucks and how to use greasemonkey to get rid of the link to it. Meanwhile real ideas are shaping and being discussed openly “over there”.
The software has it’s shortcomings but it’s light years better than the groundspeak forums. For instance, a response to a post cannot be picked as one of the best points so if you want your response to float to the top post a new comment, not a response.
Another thing to note is duplicate threads abound. Many ideas are spread across multiple threads. It appears someone is joining them together but I imagine that’s a slow tedious process. The search feature is useful at preventing this.
Since someone else mentioned that I’ve been active in there, please check out the “Most popular” ideas and click “Like” on my built-in geochecker idea. (shameless plug). It’s almost #9 😉 Still awaiting a response from “the company”.

For those of you who might be unsure of what this thread is about, there is a new Feedback link along the left side of every geocaching.com page.
If you click on “See and rate more ideas” it will take you to the “main page” of this new feedback site.

Might as well check mine out too. Just go to: My Profile and it should bring up the ideas I posted.
We might as well support our group here on there 🙂

Not quite true. Just the OT is premium only.
Dunno… I see this cool, new Feedback area as time spent that could have been spent on the main site. I don’t recall ever seeing anyone asking for a Feedback tab. The forums have collected all the same info for years. All the same topics, too.
I’m really not impressed. Sorry.

😳 Oops, for some reason I though it was premium members only. Perhaps I was confusing it with not available if your not a member. It disappears from the list if your not logged into their forums which probably had me thinking it was a PM thing.
This is a third party site that they just incorporated. I doubt it was a big dev effort to add.
Actually I see new ideas I haven’t seen on the website forums and people have more intelligent discussions about those ideas. I guess I just have rosy colored glasses on…
07/02/2010 at 11:24 pm #1932361Some good ideas have percolated up. I like cheeto’s checker idea. I also love the “let me know if photos have been uploaded” idea and I’ve asked for that before.
I am amazed at how many people post without bothering to fully read what the idea/thread is about, but as zuma mentioned elsewhere, you don’t have to pass an IQ test…
