I think I would let it stand. It seems the main point of your cache was to get them out into the particular woods that you’ve enjoyed. Perhaps send them a message asking them to remove the portion about not being able to reach it, you don’t want to give other people ideas. Maybe just have them say something about the area and thank you for the cache.
It really would have been more courteous of them to ask you if they could log it first though.04/08/2010 at 7:22 pm #1927075What about if the cache is frozen solid in the hiding place? We have come across this a few times while winter caching and have generally not claimed while other winter cachers tell us they do claim them and simply state it was frozen in place. Should the find be credited or deleted? It would help us to know for future reference. I’m sure many have this question.

Email the owner, explain the situation and ask permission to claim the find.

Just kidding. I think it depends on the finders more or less. If its a newer cachers, maybe a private message explaining the rules and why the D/T is so high. There are a few S|S caches, as well as otehrs that I see them but never logged them becouse I cant reach them. They are a 4T or above usually for that reason. If its an experianced cacher, and they are just trying to test you Dont let them. Send them a message and delete the log. I think you have most of the Geocachers around here’s support.
04/11/2010 at 4:10 am #1927078I never ever check a log in my caches and don’t see it happening any time soon. If it were someone who was obviously armchair logging I might consider deleting the log. Having said this, I also have never placed a 5/5 that I might feel slighted if I thought someone didn’t take their canoe into the middle of the Fox river in December or swim naked out to the same island in the Summer.
I know of a person who has not signed many logs, but can recall almost any cache location from years ago if asked about it.
Personally, I would rather not sign every micro log in one of those micro ziplock bags but normally do.
Life is too short to pet the sweaty things….or was it sweat the petty things. 😆

I guess I am with Miata on this one. Like Miata I will delete without warning if it is completely obvious that they didn’t even try, but I don’t lose any sleep over it.
