unfortunately, i was not able to attend the wga picnic this weekend.
however, i also noticed in the attendance logs for the event an individual who made multiple attendances. i thought that multiple attendance logging was prohibited at wga events…………………anyone?09/14/2008 at 3:59 pm #1895961This is why I stopped going into the WGA forums. Too many people trying to tell others what to do.
I’m sure the WGA board will address it.
Is this the best way to handle it? Did you try to email the “offender” directly?

09/14/2008 at 4:43 pm #1895962never called anyone a “offender”………..and i was just making an observation. understand that i wasn’t calling for anyone’s head, i just asked a question.
09/14/2008 at 6:16 pm #1895963Considering the event page does not state this is not allowed, it would be difficult for the WGA to enforce such a rule for the picnic event, no?

The original write up for the cache page did include our sentence that logging multiple attended logs is not allowed. Some how, this sentence got deleted somewhere along the way, and that is unfortunate.
Unfortunately, this puts us at risk of opening up this whole can of worms again, when we had nearly put the issue to rest. I know people still have strong feelings about, both ways, but we need to not to make it any bigger deal than it is.
I am quite sure that the 2 folks that logged it multiple times are unaware of the change of policy, so the problem rests with the WGA messing up the cache page, and not with the 2 people who logged it multiple times. They will be sent an email requesting them to delete their logs, with the reasons set forth for doing so. If they chose not to delete their logs, that is there choice, and should be respected either way. Obviously folks in the Waukesha area believe this is normal practice because it has been past practice in that area, even though it is not considered to be acceptable by most geocachers elsewhere.
Hopefully, we can get past this snafu without totally reopening this discussion. For those who want to debate the decision already made, I will remind you that this has already been discussed at length and voted on, and the WGA adopted the policy desired by the majority of our members.
Thanks,
zuma

I think most of the people here in Wisconsin really could care less, but when it comes to how negatively the rest of the geocaching community Nationwide/worldwide looks on the practice, I think it is something that should be discouraged.
Why would we Wisconsin cachers as a whole want to be looked down at by pretty much everyone else? I also think why should we care? well I guess as a Wisconsin cacher I would rather be remembered for something great than for something that has been looked on with such negativity.Again I could care less either way, as an open minded person I really can’t see why people have such an issue with the practice.

I’m really appalled that a WGA Board Member would make a statement like this and single out a specific part of the state on this subject when the practice of logging temps goes on statewide. What about all of the temps that were logged this past weekend in New Richmond on a cache set up specifically for logging temps. It wasn’t a a geocaching.com event, but none the less there were several goecachers that logged temps and isn’t this your part of the state? If this is going to be the attitude of the board towards the cachers in SE Wisconsin, as much as we enjoyed both the campout and picnic this year we will probably not be attending any WGA events again until the board gets an attitutude adjustment to represent ALL Wisconsin geocachers equally.

No offense was intended at all. And I really dont want to flog this dead horse again, but it is just a statistical fact that the epicenter of logging temps as multiple finds happens to be Waukesha County. I am not saying that is good or bad, but it is just a fact, and is one reason we need to cut a little slack to folks from the Waukesha area who logged our event multiple times. My thinking is that since logging multiple attended logs has been common past practice, people in the area are not even aware that it is not a generally accepted practice.
Again, no offense was intended at all. It is unfortanate that this is coming up again, when implementation of our new policy was such a great success at our last event at Governor Dodge.

09/15/2008 at 4:30 am #1895972Just want to publicly say that I am sorry to zuma. I came across rather short in my post up there. That was not my intention.

No apology required. This is just one more reason that this dead horse should be left alone, because it just upsets too many people and leads to miscommunication.

09/15/2008 at 4:43 am #1895974And dead horses really make me sad…then my makeup runs and I’m not so cute anymore.
I really should just go to bed now.
Good night everyone!
