04/18/2019 at 11:52 am #2063084This might be more appropriate for a couple of different forums, but I put here in an often read/posted forum and I think someone reading here probably can help…
1. WGA Newsletter went to my Spam, again. Last time I clicked This is not spam. Is there anything else I can do to keep it out of the Spam folder?
2. When I open the newsletter, it is always too big for my screen. Is there a way to make it fit? I use Chrome on the phone and usually Firefox on the desktop.
Admin can move this if it is preferred in another forum.
Thanks.

I have experienced the same issues that you mention in both of your points. The newsletter goes to Spam even though I have marked it as “not Spam,” in the past. Also, when viewing the newsletter, it does not fit to my screen and I am using different browsers than amita17. Is there a thread in this forum where we can report these bugs? It would be a great goto spot for the website admin in order to get input from users instead of having to look through different threads.
04/19/2019 at 10:10 am #2063087Unfortunately, the newsletter doesn’t go through the website. It goes through a program called mail chimp. When I click “view in my browser” it normally fits itself to my screen whether chrome or firefox. It doesn’t work on my phone however. Not quite sure if any of this helps or not . . .
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Well, it helped in that it gave me something to Google. I used mail chimp in a couple of inquiries. As to the spam, it gave me a page on mail chimp that said it could be that many recipients mark it as spam, and the filter starts to recognize that as normal. Hopefully WGA members are not labeling the newsletter as spam…if they don’t want it, they can unsubscribe. It suggests that people can mark it not spam, and if enough people do that, it should work. Ok, I can continue to check not spam if I keep finding it there.
As for the screen fit, I did not see the “view it in my browser” link, but now I have and that works on a computer but not the phone. I have also figured out it can be viewed in full if I set it to 90%. The Google inquiry sent me to a page that talked a lot about HTML, which I know next to nothing about. It said the maximum was 600 pixels and 1 MB, and a lot of other things that depended on other computer-y stuff that is not my area of expertise.
But at least I know how to fix things on my end, which is really all I can do. Hopefully this helps awhip80 and others too.
04/19/2019 at 2:53 pm #2063089My newsletter does not fit the page in Chrome but it didn’t end up in Spam. Don’t get the email notifications for posts to TS anymore so I don’t check in here as often. No points for the souvenirs for me either.
04/20/2019 at 6:41 am #2063090FTP for April 20th.
Successful road trip. Got that old Cache Rescue done in Lee Park and sent a TB on it’s way again, after 5 years of being trapped in an Archived cache. Also have 3 nice containers, including an ammo can. Enjoyed the hike in Starved Rock SP in Illinois, too.
Time for some spring chores today! Get up and get going!

Thanks for taking care of the Lee Park cache, Jim.
