07/25/2019 at 8:17 am #2063792In one week from today, I will be boarding a train bound for Saint Louis. This is for the annual Where’s George gathering that I attend. Of course, I plan on doing some Geocaching during my down time on Friday and Saturday.
The buck stops here. . .and gets entered into Where's George.

07/26/2019 at 11:11 am #2063794I’m hoping to take Pooh’s Pal and StarLily for a short jaunt on the Amtrak once summer school’s over. We can ride from LaCrosse to Tomah, Trekkin’ can pick us up and I’ll get some bonus points for signing up with Amtrak’s reward program. We’ll be taking a more serious trip with them mid-September.
It should make for a bit different experience for them from the trips on the train at the Railroad Museum in North Freedom.
07/26/2019 at 2:40 pm #2063795I just got an e-mail saying that one of my Saint Louis targets was re-enable. I was hoping to get up to 4,000 while there, but an injury at home kind of put the kibosh on that. I’ll still enjoy the caching when I’m there next week.

07/26/2019 at 10:49 pm #2063796Day 2 in Iowa comes to a close. Another long day cleaning my sister’s house; moving, donating, and selling. One pick-up load to Goodwill, half a load to Salvation Army, other half load to Half Priced Books, and one unused-still-in-the-box over-range microwave to Habitat for Humanity. Half a day for cleaning tomorrow, then rest of the day spent preparing for and attending the memorial service.

07/27/2019 at 7:20 am #2063797A tough job, BigJim. I hope your task joggles some wonderful memories.
FTP for Saturday.
07/27/2019 at 9:28 pm #2063802I’m slowly getting ready for my Saint Louis trip. I just entered a batch of singles into Where’s George to take with me, now to get those marked tomorrow. At some point I need to do a load of laundry and pack my suitcase. I leave on Thursday morning for the ride down to Saint Louis. I’m taking Amtrak as usual, and a Thursday arrival there was the only way I can get there on time for Friday’s events. That leaves me all of Friday to do what I want, and I always go to Forest Park during the day. Two years ago, I even managed to grab a couple of caches on my way into my hotel from the train station on Thursday night. I hope for a repeat of that so I can finally avenge that pesky DNF that’s been on my map downtown, or I could just swing by there after I make some waves in Forest Park.

07/28/2019 at 2:17 pm #2063806Got a security alert from Bank Of America, saying that my account is locked due to too many incorrect log-in attempts. I don’t have an account at Bank of America.

At least not one that you’re aware of.
07/28/2019 at 3:43 pm #2063808Jim, Could it be related to dealing with your sister’s stuff? Such a tough time, and things like that don’t make it better. Take care of yourself.

Nope, she doesn’t have a Bank of America account, either.

Not memories, so much, but we learned some things that we didn’t know about her (she was a very private person). She had a cedar chest filled with kimonos and embroidered sashes from Japan. She also had a dulcimer that none of us knew she played. We did have some fun “Paying it forward” this weekend. We found a coin purse full of laundromat tokens in her house, so we took it to the laundromat and asked the attendant to pass them out to customers. Then we took the money we got from selling her books to Half Price Books and bought food that we took to a homeless shelter. Today everyone else went home, but I stayed behind to take care of a few things in the morning. I went to Pizza Ranch for supper, and when I was done I bought a gift card and asked the manager to give it to the next family with kids that came in.
